@ amarendu = very well put... unfortunate that personal comments are being hurled when you have stayed on the topic - Abhijeet and rude behaviour... Like I said... the topic is on Abhijeet's rude behaviour... brings out the best/ worst in all, I guess.

@ mamis - Yeah.... and if we had Judges like Udit Narayan who does "haan mein haan milana" all the time, or a HR who blows his own trumpet, literally... all the time, ID who seemed to be judging a contestants "moral" manners and her short clothes than her singing poweress in a singing contest.. wonder what would happen.. Abhijeet saying something does not make Bappi da good or bad overnight... but like sareg said, there was some element of truth behind the comment, all he did was spice it up...

@ Thakur Saab - Lets not bring in education and upbringing into this.. lot of educated people say a lot of things... its their thoughts, so why stifle their thoughts 😊

@advil - constructive critisism is also a form of critisism... And if you do prefer bland food, no issues, but unfortunately, the show is being made for a bigger audience across the globe... I admire Bhappi Lahiri as a MD, but his style of mentoring has left a lot to be desired and when he sits there, he is indeed risking the life (figuratively) and career of his gharana singers...

@ sareg - 👏 👏 👏 but cant get over your siggy 😆

@ adi... possibly we can debate without bringing in personal upbringing here... Unfortunately, we are not Abhijeets or Bhappi Lahiri and we are not sitting in their seats... so our upbringings really of no use... and when we speak of upbringing, are we not commenting on the parents... who are outside the realm of this debate.. Maybe we can all defend our favourites without taking this to levels possibly lower than the subject matter.

Eighth, come to think of it all, the channelwallahs have achieved what they had to - see, we are debating this spat, taking sides of what we would prefer to see, etc. I guess, the story in iteself had some kind of hidden agenda, that of garnering interest among viewers.

The seven above this were equally bang on.... but this hits it on the mark...

@S.Priya, If you feel Abhijeet was doing constructive criticism of Bappi Lahiri, then I am sorry to say, our definition of "constructive criticism" does not match.

Moreover, if you watched the video clip minutely you would have seen that, Abhijitda was not criticising the"mentoring" part, he was attacking the name, fame and everything that is Bappida. Imitating his singing style, his pronumciation, and giving an update on his current number of movies in hand or not, is not constructive criticism, its called personal attack. Its called insolence.

He is being paid to mentor participants , not to rate Bappi Lahiri as a singer, MD or as a person.

And you know what, it surely reflects on his poor manners. Disrespecting your senior is absolutely unethical and in poor taste.

@advil: One point. I guess 'disrespecting your senior' would apply to Bappi Lahiri as well?

Bappi Lahiri is a person who at one time bad-mouthed the great RD Burman and Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and went on to demean them and their music. Its better if you are objective in this regard.

Priya, each to his or her own POV. The author of this thread hasn't shortlisted the "debatable points", which can be touched upon here. And neither have I attacked or abused another fellow member. So whether upbringing and lessons learnt in life is a debatable point or not again is debatable. As per me, Indian upbringing and the values taught is an important point in my opinion, because thats what we are taught -to respect your elders. So I dont see why you should take personal objection to it. You can ignore those points if you do not like. here I am talking about my take on Abhijitda, not another member who supports that or not.

😊

Adi (earlier references to username being in deference to those whose names I dont know)...

No two definitions of constructive critisism have ever matched... In any case, I was merely adding one more area or type of critisism to the ones you mentioned in your post.

Taking potshots, making fun, making digs (like the MTV spoof) are all accepted forms of critisisms...
