when it comes to public voting the contestants should sing new songs, most of the voters might be in the younger bracket to the age, they have to somehow connect with the song

Thanks Sareg..At least in VOI they are portraying that they care for quality songs and really appreciating raag based or old melodies.

Totally agree with ya..The show is getting boring hearing the same songs again and again..

they should always sing what they're best at. i don't mind the contestants singing any song. if there's emotion and confidence then it's all cool 😊

Agreed, but sometimes it is funny that contestant put in all the emotions and the get the same sadhey comments like..gaaney mein feel nahin tha, bada upar se ud gya..superficial reh gaya..feel se gayo...aur depth mein jayo..feel pakadh lo bas...

Practially seeing, its safer for new contestants to sing songs which they find easy, which they're comfortable with...whether old or new..
as d competition moves on,and d singers get better, dey shuld try nad experiment, but only when dey feel dey can do justice to the song dey're singing...
dis is wats happening rite now..most of d singers r singing gud songs, but dey're not being able to do full justice to dem mainly becoz dey can get into the feel of the song..i think Anu Di had started a topic saying d same..n all d mentors n judges say dis all d time....
old or new, its more important how well a contestant is able 2 sing d song..[/QUOTE] Agreed Prerna, Thanks for your post..

A contestant can choose old or new, that does not matter but they should select right and correct song which they can sing comfortabily..There is no point to sing particular song and get eliminated... Mentors can not bring drastic change in a contestant, but they can easily see the potential in singer and work on his/her strength...

Very well said Jadoobhai👏

That song has already been sung in the first round, by Desh Gaurav.

The reaction? Read the Funniest Moments thread. And yes, he also got eliminated. Tells you why they shouldn't try old songs unless they can.
