A single wrong choice of song selection can kick you out of the competition..What do you think is better for the contestants in general : singing old or new songs...Please share what song you wanna hear from your favorite contestant..

I want all of the contestants to sing in all styles to show their true depth. I
remember being constantly amazed at Hemachandra's versatility the Sonu
Nigam continues to amaze us everyday.

In old songs, I would love to see all the males sing "Tere Mere Sapne" from
Guide. It is not per se difficult but a really good singer will have to get the
corect nuances (o mere jevan saathi), have good breath control and a steady
voice. not sure who will do it the best.

I think that all of these contestants are weak in some area so they have
trouble singing an ID composition or an ARR composition.

To start with especially in the first couple of rounds the participants in my opnion should stick to whatever is their forte. They are new and therefore to shine they need to do what they are good at. What good will talent do if they takle a risk and get eliminated? the no one is going to bring them back. Trying something new and getting criticised for it publicly in the first rounds itself can affect the confidence l;evel of a singe very badly. However, once they are through a round or two, have she their inhibition and nervousness a bit and have also been under rigorous practice under the training and guidance of Zee music master or ustaad, they are bound to blossom out as singers if they have the versatility in them. By then the mentors also have analyzed and evaluated the capability of these singers, and now according ly they can sleect songs of a particular theme to bring out the best qualities and also aid in improving what they lack.

In Jyoti's case we saw, what a right suggestion at the right time can do. Similarly all the rest have to go with that. fine tuning.

We just cannot categorise singers for old or new songs. What if the singer was someone like me who grew up influneced by Kishoreda songs. Unfortunately I cannot sing, but the singer might just prefer that- to sing Kishoreda songs. New or old, every era has songs ranging from happy to sad to item numbers or funny numbers. its just selecting the right song that does the wonders. This selection ,i he mentors ought to do.

When it is with the maha guru's contestants should sing old songs

when it comes to public voting the contestants should sing new songs, most of the voters might be in the younger bracket to the age, they have to somehow connect with the song

I m really bored to listen new songs from the contestant. They all are singing same songs again and again. For them, obviously singing new songs is safe. But if u r a good singer,u can always do justice with oldies too.I would like to hear 'Na jaa, kahi ab na jaa,dil ke siva' from mere humdum mere dost. This song has everything, melody, high and low notes, emotions. For girls, this time i would like maully to sing 'Ajeeb dastan hai yeh'.And please, big NO to ya ali, jiya dhadak, mitwaa and all Himesh's compositions.

they should always sing what they're best at. i don't mind the contestants singing any song. if there's emotion and confidence then it's all cool 😊

Practially seeing, its safer for new contestants to sing songs which they find easy, which they're comfortable with...whether old or new..
as d competition moves on,and d singers get better, dey shuld try nad experiment, but only when dey feel dey can do justice to the song dey're singing...
dis is wats happening rite now..most of d singers r singing gud songs, but dey're not being able to do full justice to dem mainly becoz dey can get into the feel of the song..i think Anu Di had started a topic saying d same..n all d mentors n judges say dis all d time....
old or new, its more important how well a contestant is able 2 sing d song..

Thanks Adi, I agree you can always experiment appropriately in later rounds after casting a spell in the first few rounds..
