I would like to share a contextual story here.

When I first came to United States, all I had to accompany me as a guide was a piece of instruction paper which had detailed instruction about what I will do from the moment I landed on the airport until I reached my Hotel ( I landed on a weekend). There was nobody to receive me😕. Even though, I had a detailed instruction, the whole journey from airport to Hotel was nothing but a travesty. More than anything, I just missed that personal touch that I was used to in India of somebody being always there to send off and receive. Since then, I have made it a habit to personally bet at the airport to receive an individual everytime somebody new from India joins my office. Right then and there, I end up making a lifelong friend because the value of lending a reassuring hand at the time when needed most is a memory that is hard to erase.

My whole purpose behind this thread is exactly that...to make sure that the newcomers don't feel lost when they come to this forum. So I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to those who have joined me in this effort.😃

😃 Keep the forum rocking 😃

hehe.... atleast you had instructions on a piece of paper..... My journey to thailand was similar lols.... it was my first air travel internationally so first i was asking throughout the airport what to do😆.... then when i came to bangkok it was real big airport (For me because its bigger than mumbai which was the only one i saw before😆) and much of the staff does nt know english.... so i had to pick and chose to ask for directions..... then i was told in englishthe words where to come.... so i cd tell that much but there was a number and my boss on phone told to write number and show to taxi driver....

it was a galli 49... which is called soi see sib cow.... here people dont understand fourty nine😆..... so he told once u come to the galli check on the left the building name....😆.... there was noone to pick up in alien country with new language....can t speak english😆..... but still it was nt that bad....

yesterday was even worse as i lost my way back home at night from a friends get together at 11.... and i did nt know where i was lols.... so i called an indian friend he told me to ask there as even he did nt know the place.... but there were only cars running and noone to ask.... but finally got a bike delivery guy.... but when i was telling him to go ahead and i come from behind he cd nt understand😆.... so again called friend at 11.30 he told the guy in thai language and then i returned😆 ofcourse i was on my bike😳

So a nice welcome to the newcomers and if anyone from IF is coming to Bangkok... u can PM me and i will bea t your service at the airport....😊

Another very contextual and more compelling story. At least I was in a country where I could communicate easily but I can imagine what you went through Abhi boss...Thanks for sharing your story and lending your hand.👏👏👏

It was not that bad..... just that i was watching the boards on roads for directions and if he is taking me correct...... though i cd nt know if the road was correct for half hour because the name of the place i wanted came after half hour only😆......i reached safely without much moving around as the rate was fixed at the airport... so he cd have brought me with the shortest route.... but the highway in the city is real nice so it was not that bad...... but for your driving its tough as i experienced yesterday😆...... i was so lucky to get that bike guy outside hospital at near midnight😆
