👏Good answers Punjini - now let us get into some real good stuff - I would like to know What 5 things you would do if :

1. I gave you tomorrow's newspaper today - ala ... atleast 24 hours in advance?

2. Made you the PM of India for one day

3. Replaced our Hero in the White House with you for one day

4. Made you the Director of a Amitjee solo movie for one day

5. Made you Invisible for one day

6. Allowed you to rewind in time and correct 5 of your life's biggest mistakes - what would they be and what would you do??

7. Made you in charge of IF SRGMP section - I mean the main MOD, replacing the Big Kahuna ......... 😉

8. Put a Million bux in your Bank and told you that whatever remains will be taken back in 24 hours...

Keep on truckin..... Mazaa aa raha hai - 👏 👏

great going S. thanks also for answering my earlier question. some more, on the lighter side,

1. what are 5-10 favorite songs of yours that come to your mind right now? i know it's hard to narrow down. our lists also keep changing based on our moods, but still if you could...
5 or 10? Let's take 5. I am sure you will not have heard any of them 😆
Woh to chale gaye ai dil (Sangdil)
Phir tumhari yaad aayi ai sanam (Rustom Sohrab)
Chal diya kaarwaan (Laila Majnu)
Khuda nigehbaan (Mughal-e-azam)
Saranga teri yaad mein (Saranga)
Yes, I am in the mood to listen to songs on "judaai"

2. a few fictional characters you identify with or have been inspired by (since you mentioned that earlier), and why.

Lord Krishna: I should not put him in the fictional category. There is evidence that a real Krishna did exist around 3000 B.C. but the character ascribed to him and the stories around him are obviously fables. I love Krishna in Mahabharata - his wisdom, his playfulness, his friendship with Draupadi.
Scarlett o hara (Gone with the Wind) - the sheer energy she conveys, the power to take on any crisis is inspiring. A true survivor who illustrates Darwin's Law of Survival of the Fittest. She could shoot a man in the head if the need arose! She could do physical labour if there was no one else to do it. Her negative qualities are so real. Plus I am Aries too.😃
Elizabeth Bennett (Pride and Prejudice): What an IQ! Her intellect and fine repartee would make anyone's day. Honest and forthright, she is completely sensible.
Edmond Dante (The Count of Monte Cristo): One of the most enduring characters in fiction. I can never forget the utter misery he endured in the underground dungeon and how it changed his life forever.
Sherlock Holmes: His power of deduction inspires me to this day.

3. could you describe yourself in 5 lines.
I am a no-nonsense person as many of you think but also given to day-dreaming, endless philosophising and analysing. I am able to look at my faults straight in the face. I am the kind of person who will go to any extent to get forgiveness if I am the one at fault. When I am convinced about something, only wild horses can stop me from acting on my convictions. I am a team person, who can be a leader when the situation demands. I make my own happiness.

4. do you debate only out of conviction or sometimes for entertainment too, for the heck of it?
Only conviction. Debating for entertainment is the pet passion of male IITians.
😉

5. how do you deal with the difficult times of your life- and there must be difficult times as they are for most of us. do you find it easy to pick yourself up after failure?
Depends on the difficulty of the difficult times. I cry a little in the bathroom. Since I like to imagine that I am Scarlett O' Hara material, I am able to square my shoulders and face the problems. But it has always been with the support of my loved ones. I have pasted some inspiring words on the walls of my room - which reminds me not to give up. I go for walks and gym-workouts which calms me a little and makes me put things in perspective. It is never easy to pick oneself up after failure!

thanks in advance!- r

Manju you are most welcome to visit me after 10-15 years and see if I got what I wanted. 😊 If I have, I will be only too glad to share.

S, those are such great answers to my questions. liked the way you described yourself, the characters who have inspired you, how you deal with the difficult times. there's a consistent thread in all of that. great knowing that the person on the other side of some of those "entertaining" debates is a woman of such substance. male IITians wouldn't want it any other way. 😉 😊

will also keep that list of songs handy till i get to listening to them. after all the "non-faint" praise, hope they are nice. else 😡 😆

  1. "You can take a horse to the water, you cannot force it to drink" – do you believe in this theory? Why?
Of course. I face this situation all the time with my husband, daughter, sister and father! They behave like horses with blinkers on, who cannot see the water at all!
  1. "Anger is a waste emotion"- do you believe this? What do you do when you get very angry?
Not at all! It is a very useful emotion - a source of great energy like steam! Some of my greatest achievements have come when I was angry and I channeled the energy productively. In earlier years, when I was angry, I would shout and scream. Now I strategize. 😆 I use words very effectively. Some people might hate me for that, but I am OK.

  1. "Never explain- your friends don't need it, your enemies wont believe it" – do u believe in this quote?

I don't believe in this at all! No one should be taken for granted. Without communication and explanations, there will be misunderstandings all around like those stupid TV serials you see. It bewilders me why a simple, straight explanation is not given and all that drama is allowed to happen.

  1. What are the three main qualities you look for in your real or virtual friend

  2. Understanding, sense of humour, logical thinking

  3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  4. My strengths are my weaknesses too: Directness, leadership qualities, result-oriented approach.
  5. Tell us 7 things that we do not know about you.
  6. I have done some crazy things in life.
I often imagine that I am a spectator and start enjoying the things that are happening around me..without feeling a part of them.
Wrong spellings make me see red!
Hate the Hindi spoken in Delhi and in Zee TV.
I get floored by Urdu-speaking shayars (Javed Akhtar types)
Artificiality, airs and acquired accents turn me off.
    Always admire doers over talkers
  7. We have never seen you in chatty threads.Any particular reasons for that?
  8. Most of the time, the chats are inane and the language is uninspiring. Sorry, am I being snobbish?
  9. Where exactly is the thin line that separates inspired creativity from plagiarism?
  10. The same line that divides SD Burman from Bappi Lahiri.
  11. A person should think with his head ,not with his heart - do you agree? why or why not?
  12. Both are in the same place - the brain which ultimately makes all decisions. Logic combined with instinct would make a great combination.
  13. If Kuwait's main product was say- cabbage, do you think America would have fought the Gulf war?
  14. Absolutely not. That's why India has not been attacked by America.

I am sorry about the formatting which has gone all haywire in my answers above!

Be confident. Don't compete with or try to act like men. Develop your own style and independent thinking. Be up to date with latest developments. Learn to prioritise. Use whatever means (yoga/tai ichi/meditation) to develop calmness in the midst of pressures and a keen concentration on the immediate task at hand.

👏👏👏 very well said sahana. just my thoughts. i am really enjoying reading your replies.

one question now from me. It came to my mind after reading this particular reply.

Adi: A rock-like support to those who need him.

Highly emotional and I suspect he acts first, thinks later.

Anu.Rad Very friendly

Cant say no to anyone

Bhaskar.T: Well-seasoned, matured beyond his years. Would go to any extent to help a friend in need.

Believes that explanations are not needed. See his siggy. 😃

ChameliKaYaar Humorous

Dont see him much in the musical threads

Barnali: Has one of the finest hearts in the world. Must quickly clone her before her species disappears!

Where are the negative qualities? Maybe she is too giving, and leaves little space for herself.

Kabhi: Forceful debator and strong convictions.

Do you really need to sing?

Egghatcher: When his sentences make sense, they are a delight to read. When they don't I wish I could throw something at him.

Qwerty: I like the way he sticks to his guns in the face of all opposition. Should have been a freedom fighter in the 40s. The British would have left earlier.

I can sense some rigidity and resistance to change.

Chatbuster: An absolute delight when he is provoked and justifies his stand using his knowledge gleaned from management schools. An idealist with shades of cynicism.

How could he get confused between Lata Mangeshkar and Suman Kalyanpur? How could he think that any singer can be moulded, given a good music director?

Simtara Matured sounding girl

dont see her post much

Vinnie-thepooh Friendly

Sensitive about HR

Sunny Intelligent

troubles Snowflake too much

Ron (AnzDesi) Friendly

Can't follow his language at times

Dia Caring

Keeps away from the musical threads most of the time

(Sorry if I missed out anyone.)
