Just one question

Women are making mark in all the fields of life..What do you think is the perfect profession for women..I am kinda of impressed with woman as teachers especially in Elementary Schools..Wonder what are your views..

Definitely, women are playing an extremely significant role as teachers - a child probably feels more comfortable with a female teacher.

But the entire question about which profession is good for them is a sexist one. Women have as many different kinds of aptitudes and abilities as men do (or more)! Some women have an aptitude for scientific research, some for finance, some others for sports - their abilities should not be slotted or limited in any manner.

I would be a horrible elementary school teacher - I would snap at the children who are slow on the uptake or hyperactive. I might be OK with senior students...but in any case, teaching is not my forte... Women's professions should not be tied with their gender.

So did I pass your checks? 😊
Sure, don't ask which trees the mangoes grew on. But what if you were asked to choose between a fresh mango and a canned one - that's the difference I am talking about. 😃

Loving your answers, Sahana!

Questions:

1) Have you ever experimented with creative writing? If yes, could we see a sample of your work - perhaps a para of prose or a few lines of poetry? If no, what kind of piece would you pen down?

2) Name an IF member who corresponds with the following items and the reason you picked that member:

Chocolate Cake
Salt
Cricket Bat
Kachba-chap Agarbatti
Curtain
Tubelight
Biryani
Ocean
Baseball Cap
Chilly powder

3) The most overrated singer from the Golden Era?

4) The most overrated singer from the current lot?

Hmm-good answer, so one more question on woman's-lib. Do you think now a day what TV serials are showing (Ex: most of the woman in the serial marry multiple times) is this type of liberty woman wants to achieve?

Those TV serials? They make me start raving and ranting against the falling standards of TV.

How can those multiple marriages convey liberty of any kind? They only depict confused minds! Surely, after one failed marriage, some lessons are learnt?

The funny part is that in these serials, some kind of impossible situation is created where the other woman (who later doubles up as a killer, blackmailer and even kidnapper) brazenly walks in to take the place of the rightful wife, all before the eyes of a helpless husband!

You absolutely right, I find them all funny as no logic is used, and everyone except the other woman are dumb.

Hi Punjini Ji,

Here are some questions relating to women, because I liked your answers pertaining to them a lot:

1. Do you consider yourself a feminist? Why or why not?

2. What is your solution to the problems mothers face in the workplace?

3. In the US there is a huge debate going on between the pro-choice people who believe that women should have the choice to have an abortion and the pro-life people who think that abortion should be illegal. Where would you place yourself, if anywhere?

And now for some questions about music:

1. Is it possible to teach yourself music (as in the notes and ragas and stuff) by reading, or do you definitely need training?

2. There are certain instruments that touch me or affect me more than others, do you feel that way about any instruments?

3. Do you have any favorites in non-indian music? If so, what are they? If not, why not?

Meaning you are a Delhite? Do you still live in Delhi? I think South Delhi still has some of its old charm though it has lost most of it. I love the monuments of Delhi - there is so much history everywhere.

Great answers Sahanaji.. I am enjoying all your answers..
Thanks for the kind words you have bestowed upon me and the chocolate cake too.. I luv them 😛

Good to know you are a delhite and a student of Delhi university.. My mom pursued her post graduation from Delhi University and also worked in one of the allied college of the university.. Though currently we do not reside thr, the memories are afresh..

Few questions - I thought of not troubling you, but ur answers inspire me to ask you more
  1. What is your order of preference - "I and then rest of the world" or "rest of the world and then I"
  2. How do you prioritize the following - money, love, family, friends, I, career
  3. Your take on the following - Love, God, Culture, Religion, Marriage, Dreams
  4. You seem to be following both modern as well as the traditional practices.. Like you do yoga and also work out in Gym.. What are the benefits you have got working out in a gym that you have not got in yoga
