yes. i cant imagine the alternative- a life of stagnation, a life where one can never get ahead even by working hard. perhaps ok for the very rich for whom the status quo would work, but not for those who do need to grow financially out of their desperate situations. economic growth is what would put more bread on the table for the hungry, that extra toy for the lil kid, the nice dress for the prom girl, a better job for the laborer who would otherwise toil away in the sun and rain, better health facilities, roads, infrastucture... the benefits are endless and the necessity for it urgent.

generally no. if it takes one minute, it's usually too long. but i do make pasta occasionally with the music turned on. that's sphagetti with meat balls or wit clams. but really hate all the peripheral work- washing utensils etc

oh, Bee Gees kind of music. dont much care for hindi dance music which is too often remix

so what should we do? choke off growth for the millions so that the rich can maintain their status quo, and the poor dont have another life. or work towards finding new environmentally sensitive technologies along the lines of what Al Gore keeps suggesting? at least with the latter approach, there is hope. with the former, there's not even hope for the poor.

and it doesnt have to be all or nothing. we can probably trade-off some economic growth in the short-run to bring the rate of environmental depradation down to sustainable levels i think...
