Kamathrekha, you were out of line in saying "that muslim judge called khayyam ...". It wasn't necessary and moreover, it's in bad taste. No reason to use language like that.

This Kamathrekha is really ruining the mood of the forum - bringing in religion and stuff even after being told not to in previous posts. Please control your outbursts becuase it is frankly disturbing to see such a hatemonger in the midst of other normal discussions.

You guys seems to be narrow minded and nothing else? Everything is in mind. If you take it in betterway then it looks better otherwise if you think something wrong then it becomes wrong.

So much for facts....he is just a judge, so was Kumar Sanu....why qualify him with anything other than the fact that he was a judge. Unless the qualification has any relevance, why bring it into the conversation.

Its an insult to all the talented and genuine singers when Rajeev is selected for finals. This is a Sa re ga ma pa contest, not looks or background. OK agreed he has an unique voice. So for voice we give him 9 out of 10, now what about other categories of judgement, sur, taal, expression of words, ...Rajeev would not score more than 5 in any of these categories. I feel Lalit was justified when he questioned the wisdom of the judges. He was frstrated with the judgement of the previous day when Rajjev got freen card. Judges should read from the marksheet and explain how each scored. After all , we listeners are not stupid, we too know good music when we hear one. If you are paid to be a judge, you owe the paying public an explanation of your judgement. Rajeev's selection for finals is ridiculoues to say the least.

Kuamr Shanu and Khayaam did not judge properly, I agree judgement is not who isngs by Dil or Rooh. Judgement should be sur, taal, range of voice (high, low), expression, complexity (difficulty).
Like Himesh always give very difficult and unique songs. Pandit Jasraj ji even mentioned that to Himesh ji when Joyita lost.

Also Diler Mendhi who just went by Sur which eliminated some good singers.

I know I am not one of the judges. Nor am I qualified to be one. But the fact remains that in all the next rounds the singers will be judged not by the judges but by votes and sms by people like u and me. so in a way, whether u like it or not, we people are the judges.

dont get me wrong. i am also taken in by the heart warming story of a boy from the small town of Chamba , with little or no means who dreams of making it big in the music industry. He has no classical training, no experience, no godfather - just his talent to see him through. He passes stage after stage based on his emotion and honesty and wants to reach the top. If Rajiv actually wins, his story could make a blockbuster movie (u would have to add a heroine ofcourse.. 😉)

my only contention is that his lifestory should not be the basis of chosing him as the best singer. the best singer should be chosen on the basis of singing alone. rajiv is talented , no doubt, but needs polishing . he has potential, but he needs someone to hone him in his skills. The areas where he falters are sur and throw of voice. both these things are repairable by dedication and proper learning. There are songs which he will surely be able to sing well even now . That is y Adesh Srivastava has been good enough to make him sing a songg in one of his movies already. But the range of an accomplished singer he will acquire only after some time . He has already got a song recorded so he is on his way to fame and fortune. What Rajiv needs to do is to capilatize on the goodwill of people like Rohan (who obviously believes in him)and prove that he can be a better singer than he is now .

I definitely agree. he has connections. Agreed his voice is good. The only song that he sang well that too only the first paragraph was from film kache daage(hale dil). His kishore kumar song was pathetic and he got green card.

hey koyal ... you seem to really like rajeev but get one thing straight there is no way that Rajeev can sing better than abhejeet and yet abhijeet is out of the contest and rajeev is still in it. Is that a fair judgement? honestly
