| aawaz gul: Abhijeet Sawant and Himesh Reshammiya perform at Wembley | It was smooth sailing for Himesh Reshammiya at his concert in Wembley (UK) recently. But the same cannot be said about Abhijeet Sawant, who was the show's opening act. The Indian Idol took to the stage to perform Mar Jawa Mit Jawa from the film Aashiq Banaya Aapne, which was also the first song he recorded with Himesh, when all hell broke loose. Out of sync As soon as the music started, it was clear from Abhijeet's body language that he wasn't happy with the sound arrangements. One could see him constantly giving cues to technicians to increase the volume. However, the minute he started singing, he realised that there was a lag of a few seconds in the music. Not only was the music out of sync with his vocals, but it also sounded jarring. The singer tried his best to hide the flaw and continued singing to a visibly stunned audience. After the concert ended, Himesh organised a dinner for the media and his troupe. Half way through the dinner, the show's technicians arrived and joined the party. That's when Abhijeet stormed in and started arguing with one of the background technicians, who was sharing a table with this reporter. Mike mix-up The singer was furious over the error in the sound output during his performance. He not only asked for an explanation but also demanded an apology. When the technician said that he had used Vineet's (Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge finalist) mike instead of his own, Abhijeet lost his temper. He started yelling and sought out the person responsible for arranging the mikes. The lady in question supported Abhijeet, saying he had used the mike that had his name inscribed on it. Neither of the parties was willing to bow down. The technicians stuck to their position that they had no control over the sound output, while Abhijeet continued to demand an apology. Foul play A close associate of Sawant who travelled with him, said, "Abhijeet has every right to be angry. This was one of his big shows abroad. How can they make him look like a fool? The background crew can afford to throw up their hands because they don't have to come up on stage. But Abhijeet is a popular singer and millions pay money to hear him sing." The friend added that this hadn't happened at any of the previous concerts where Abhijeet and Himesh had performed together. He said, "I don't want to speculate on any foul play, but why would this happen at Wembley, where media from all over the country was invited?" We tried to contact Abhijeet, but he remained unavailable for comment. |
