There was a time when old Hindi Movie songs were remixed to give a modern taste to the listeners. Though this trend is still continuing, a new trend is boosting this phenomenon, the Remake of Movies. Many want to take the example of T-series, to revive their production houses by investing in this new idea. Then came copying efforts of movie from Hollywood and to modify them to suit Indian audience by incorporating few songs and dance numbers. It gained mix results. Same thing has seen in the Movie music, as many MDs are copying music from different regions, more recently from Arabic and Indonesian traditions. Both the scenarios are similar, in the former case, music came first then the movie and later one, though there were evidences of using music from hit numbers from outside in the past, its now more prominent.
Same fever is not different for small screen audiences. Hit serials or concept from foreign countries have been reproduced for Indian audiences; prominent examples are India's Most wanted, Kaun Banega Crorepati etc. Now the time is for reality shows. Based on concept mostly developed by US, Indian TV channel giants are remaking such program and earning money in addition to regular sponsorship money by motivating emotionally and dramatizing the events, and compelling followers to spend on SMSs and phone calls. Poor junta. Indian Idol, SRGMP, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Nach Baliyee are the few examples of such reality shows. All these shows are making profits like anything.
Does this fever catch the IF? A big yes; Evident from the big war of DON gang and the RR Gang. Don gang initially got the upper hand and captured the RR Gang Captain Bhaskar, but has been rescued by Adi, another RR Gand Senapati. Now it seems that RR Gang is having the advantage over DON. But do not draw any conclusion; anything can happen to this war. Each gang is very capable of making strategy according to situation and end result may change every week. Aamna Tera kya hoga? She has oscillating like a pendulum according to the results of the gang war. One day she becomes the sister of the RR Gang member (excluding the correspondent) and the other day she becomes the most suitable match for the RR Captain. Then came the DON contest, to determine the Don of the forum. No results were out and leaked reports confirmed that many participants had put up their candidature.
Most recently in the IF SRGMP section new reality thread remake is going on. Three esteemed members of the forum Appa , Jaya and Adi will perform the tasks of judges. Though this time their role wont be like dummy judges. More specifically these trio have got inspiration from the Lit Champs trio of Abhijeet, Alka and Bappi Lahiri. They will try to imitate according to the wish of the thread director Kabhi, who will play the role of Gajji of SRGMP fame. Though the thread has been started by Bangboy, competition concept was introduced by Kabhi as far as this correspondent is informed. There was a clear indication from the self proclaimed media advisor of this show, who represents MGA, that the trio should represent whole fraternity of reality shows judges and Kabhi should be the representative of show producers. Though public voting has not been introduced yet in this thread, you never know when Abhi aka Gajji introduces such things. One advice or warning from the media advisor is that no one should send any SMS, if public voting introduces to this competition. Keep your Mobile off mode while visiting such threads.
