i thought alka was biased against sanchita 😉

on the whole i felt alka to be the most balanced judge

i really agreed with her on the day when diwakar got a A+ for swades song
and i think sanchita got a B+ for RDB on the same day

My personal opinion - none of the judges were perfect and totally unbiased though Alka was the better of the lot... She would usually point out what went right and wrong in the performances but sadly though in some of the cases, her grades and comments would not sync up - she was particularly strict with Sanchita and evidently lenient with Sameer and Gurpreet on many occassions! Abhijeet's grades were usually very honest, and he would not be afraid to speak out the truth - the only problem with him was the way he would speak out! But, I would still go with speaking out the truth in some form rather than always being politically correct and over-generous like Bappi'da. As a judge, it does not serve any purpose for the kids if all performances of the kids are equally appluaded - it would rather discourage the kid who has performed exceptionally well and yet been graded at par with a relatively weaker kid! So if I had to rank the judges as per their performance - it would be Alka followed by Abhijeet and then Bappi'da.

As mentors - brilliant performances by Alka and Bappi'da, esp the later. The improvement in Diwakar in the final stages of the show said it all. Sanchita also evolved as a performer under Alka's mentorship. As a mentor, she had the right to react the way she did in the finals and there was nothing wrong in that! Abhijeet-Sameer combination really did not work. In my opinion, Abhijeet would have been happier mentoring Sanchita - but since Alka had already chosen her, he picked up Sameer - Quite naturally, he would have never picked Diwakar after all his arguements with Mr Sharma in the episode before that!

As a Judge, I thought Abhijeet was better. He would often point out the mistakes, when he praised them, he took them to the moon, leaving the lil contestants happy in the glow of his praises. When he critisized, he was harsh. Sometimes a tad too much. Critisizm when coated with sugar does not have the effect as much as it does when it is conveyed without. Abhijeet could have been a bit more polite or toned down, considering that the contestants were children.

Alka was good as well, she always pointed out the flaws, but let her heart rule when it came to giving marks. The "overall effect acha tha" was used more often, when the "sur kahin kahin gaya thaa", ya "awaaz shayad baitha thaa" ya phir "words bhool gaye the tum". The particular bending towards a few contestants had the effect of downing the morale of the others.

Bappida got the wrong end of the stick during the show. Abhijeet was gruff with rebukes, Alka was pointed with comments, so someone had to be sugar and pamper the kids and Bappida was left doing that thru out the show and that became his set pattern. Nothing less than A + if the performance is passable. Less only if there were obvious flaws. The critisism was obviously toned down almost as if he is apologetic for the words of his co-Judges.

As mentors, I think they all did well. Abhijeet a bit less, because Sameer may not necessarily follow the Abhijeet style of singing. The languid, slow, breezy, soft, romantic style of singing of Abhijeet (with a lot of emotions and feelings) is not Sameer's style, who is more a energetic singer like maybe Shaan or ARR or Sonu or HR. Possibly that guru shishya combination did not work out, though it did work in that one round when Sameer sang a beautiful slow number (cant remember the name)

Bappida did good with Diwakar and Alka polished her diamond flawlessly.
