By the way, I never tried to degrade others by saying "only people in east are passionate". I never mentioned that. In general people in the east are passionate about music, that does not make people from other parts passionless.

Shamit couldn't qualify for Indian Idol let alone SRGMP where the standards are much, much higher than even Indian Idol. Not a single singer from FG would even get past the audition rounds. And only 1 or 2 singers from Indian Idol would. The quality of singing talent in SRGMP is much, much superior to any other reality show. This isn't even a debatable point as it's universally acknowledged.

Arpita Mukherjee (FG) won. So did Rahul Saxena (II). Amey Date (II2) was a megafinalist.

NC Karunya would make it, no doubt. Arijit Singh and Aditi Paul are good singers, defintely would have a chance or more.

Definitely agree that SRGMP has the best singers when compared to II1, II2 and FG. That point can't be debated. The winner, Debojit, is miles ahead of the other reality show winners.

and so does the south but the basic difference between the two regions winners is that srgmp is not viewed in the south but in the east it is viewed a lot

remember my earlier post about srgmp being no 1 in Calcutta ahead of even kyunki

more viewership translates into more votes

till the time public voting was not introduced very few ( at least in india ) saw it in spite of the superior quality of singing
when public voting started and the fights and hype happened only then ppl started seeing it
who does the blame lie unto zee or the masses
if we like kekta regressive serials we will get it
Channels bread and butter is TRPs
if ppl like watching trash they will get it

AS for the old format, I doubt Gajji will bring it back.

I am not from the east either, in fact from West, if you go by birth or south, by origin, and my fav singers/ mds or literature is from the East. But that by itself does not mean that people from East are more music concious. We can safely say that those from the East made a mark on the hindi film music and now the voting public of the Eastern block are making a mark on the Reality show of SRGMP.

The original post was only on the voting public of East and yes, it does appear that the voting public of east are far more concious and aware of the show and vote with passion than the rest of the country.

Besides that, there can be no other inference drawn, as by itself, India has a very very cultural heritage and each region has a different style.

I also agree to the fct that Bengalis are music lovers. People from South may like music as well but they only go for the regional music(not hindi).While in Bengal all kinds of music are loved. Bengal is very rich in culture and people their appreciate music very much. It is not a coincidence that the winners are from bengal.
Bollywood has numerous bengali singers which proves the talent that bengalees have.
