Himesh dons a new cap
In a bid to change the face of music in the country, Reshammiya intends opening music schools
Subhash K Jha
Himesh Reshammiya has yet another ace up his sleeve. The singer will be opening his own music schools all over the country.
Confirming the news, Himesh says, "I'm opening a hi-tech music school to be called Himesh Reshammiya School Of Music all over the country, starting from Mumbai, Delhi, Madras and Kolkata. There will be two centers in each town. It's a very huge project. The interiors will be done by Italian architects who are being roped in for their expertise. I want to change the face of music schools in this country."
With this school, Himesh wants to make music accessible to the young and old in terms with what they are comfortable with. "So far we have had music schools associated with guru shishya. With my school I intend to do away with make the process of music learning friendly rather than forbidding," says Himesh.
Himesh wants both the amateur and the professional musician to have an equal place in the school. "The important thing is to get people interested in music as a career option. The students could range from six to 60, but the bottom line is that I want music to be made both fun and meditative. Music schools in our country are dingy and depressive. I want this school to become like shopping mall or a multiplex where people can relax."
After his extension plans in the country, Himesh intends to open schools outside India too. "In Phase 2 we will take it to the non-metro centers. I intend developing a syllabus which incorporates different genres of music. My school will endeavour to bring forth the best talent to the film industry. I want to bridge the gap between trained classic musicians and popular cinema."
Excited at the prospect of encouraging new talent, Himesh says, "I guess it's payback time for me. Whatever I've gained from music I want to pass on to the young generations. I had such little guidance when I was starting out. Now I want youngsters to get the opportunities I didn't."

What should you expect when Himesh Reshammiya is introduced as HR? What should you expect when he says that if his love story is not conveyed to us then his life will not be complete? What should you expect when he sings Tanhiyaan as Tan- hiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- yaaaaaaannnn? What should you expect when you come to know that he is starring in a movie called Aap Ka Suroor? Directed by Prashant Chadha who directed all the videos of Himesh's successful album also titled Aap Ka Suroor, this film shot mostly in U.S. opens with an amazing start. Random shots of the west are executed well and one might say Himesh has hit the jackpot with this talented director. Armed with a spectacular background score and a good song in Tanhaiyaan, witness Himesh on his big screen debut with Aap Ka Suroor. You witnessed the agony of tragic love stories… You witnessed the ecstasy of immortal love stories… It's time you witnessed mine! That's what the musical maestro has to say… but does he look comfortable on screen? In the words of HR himself "Bhagwan Ka Screenplay Bhi Ajeeb Hai…"

Learn music at Himesh Reshammiya School |
By IndiaFM News Bureau, November 4, 2006 - 07:04 IST |
If you thought that Himesh was all over the place then guess again. Starting out as a music director and producer of TV shows, he subsequently took the nation by storm with his singing. With new songs coming out by the day, one felt Himesh could have gotten saturated. But that wasn't just meant to be. He shifted his concentration into acting in a film Aap Ka Suroor of whose promos are on air. And finally if you thought that wasn't enough there's more to come. Himesh has launched M3 or Mega Music Movement that also goes by the name of sangeet, sur and surror movement. So now you can do it all. Firstly, you can learn music from HR School of Music. To be launched in 4 urban cities with 8 schools totally. This will be launched in the next 3 months. And if you thought that his trademark cap was getting old, well… Himesh has other thoughts. He will be coming out with a fashion label which will have clothes similar to what he had worn in his songs. What next Himesh? Rocket Science? |

Ek baar aaja aaja...
Himesh is on the hunt for heroines for his debut film. We ask our actresses if they are willing
Ram Kamal Mukherjee
Himesh Reshammiya has launched himself as an actor in London. And announced that he wants to sign three actresses to act with him in his film Aap Ka Suroor–The Movie, The Real Love Story. We asked around to check if our actresses are ready to snap up the roles… and the chance to sing and dance with Himeshbhai. Well, most of them declined, very very politely. Except Bobby Darling, that is. Bobby wants to play a double role in Himesh's film. Now, does this narrow down his search to one?

I would not like to comment on this. I'm sure he will make a good film. All the best to him
Our take: After Shah Rukh Khan hogged all the limelight in Don, I don't want to work in another film where the male lead plans to steal all the show.
• Preity Zinta
I think it's a very silly question. I'd only act in a film which will have a good character and script. I think Himesh is a very successful singer and I wish him loads of luck.
Our take: Himeshbhai? After sharing screen space with the biggest Khans?
• Amrita Arora
I would love to work with Himesh because that would assure one thing… I will get a hit song.
Our take: More importantly, it would also assure a hit film, something which hasn't yet featured on my CV so far...
• Raima Sen
There has been a popular trend in Bollywood to launch playback singers as actors. As far as acting with Himesh is concerned, well, umm, let's say I'd only agree if the role is really, really great.
Our take: "Knowing that really, really great roles paana mushkil toh kya, namumkin hai."
• Raveena Tandon
I think he is looking for young actors to play female leads, so that keeps me out from the list.
Our take: Phew! I'm out of the race.
• Bobby Darling
I would want to play a double role in Himesh's film. I would also like to wear the cap he sports. I think he is fantastic singer and he will become a very good actor.
Our take: It's certainly a far better deal than playing self-deprecating cameos and doing reality TV shows
• Koena Mitra
Singer, performer and now an actor… The world will be watching him. I wish him all the best, but I would rather dance to his music at a night club than dance around trees with him.
Our take: I would even play a tree to get noticed in his mega-film, but who wants to confess…

Bollywood News:
I am not in love with Himesh Reshammiya: Tulsi Kumar
Posted by: BollywoodBabe :: on Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 10:31 AM :: 72 Reads
In Orlando for a triumphant Aap Ka Suroor concert, Himesh Reshammiya is aghast by a story (in DNA) that he's involved with T Series - baron Bhooshan Kumar's sister Tulsi Kumar.
"What nonsense is this!" Himesh bursts out. "Tulsi is like my sister. I've met her just three times for the three recordings she has done with me. I don't even have her cell number. Whoever has started this rumour has a very sick mind. It's cheap and embarrassing. I'm very close to the whole T Series family. Bhooshan Kumar is like my brother and his sister is like my sister."
While Himesh is enjoying unprecedented success on his world concerts, the unsavoury rumours keep reaching his ears. "But this one about Tulsi and me is the limit. But I'm getting used to the back-biting."
About the rumour that Himesh is charging an exorbitant royalty for his ring-tone, Himesh explains, "It varies from project to project. I don't have a fixed fee. The terms and conditions differ according to the projects. It depends from producer to producer and music company to company. I try to make sure everyone earn from my music."
Himesh has eight more concerts in the US and Canada. "Up till now my concerts have broken all previous records for all Indian shows from Bollywood. There hasn't been a single show in the US that has gone anything but full. I still have to perform in Chicago, Ohio, LA, Boston, New York and Washington.
The one-to-one interaction with the fans has been an emotional journey for me. The fact that audience members from the age of 6 to 60 at every venue have gotten up and danced for the finale, is unheard-of. And in spite of security hazards we've at least 19-20 youngsters joining us on stage to sing and dance."
Himesh's most popular song in the US? "Undoubtedly Jhalak dikhla jaa…I believe Sony tv's new dance show has been named after my song."
Himesh isn't sure whether it's a copyright infringement. "When I come back I'll definitely look into it. Jhalak dikhla jaa is the biggest song of my career."
Himesh returns to India on 3 September.
