The more popular version of this traditional composition was the one used in Gaman by Jaidev - sung by Hiradevi Mishra.

Jagjit Kaur, by the way, is Mrs. Khaiyyam. Khaiyyam used her voice in many films mostly for a solitary song -- Shagun, Umraao Jaan, Bazaar etc.

And the lead role in Shagun was done by Kamljit Singh, who later married to Waheeda Rehman.
