Not every body smirks on the remixes. People who believe that remixes should be there thinks that remixes is the only way to make the new generation in touch with the golden era songs. Remixes do provide an automatic good song and you don't need to go out to copy.

Pepel who have heard an original song all their lives and suddenly provided with a new version with all the so called "noise" don't like them. It is a matter of what some body is used to.Just my point of view.

I agree. Vulgarity in music videos dilutes all the good stuff of an old song..If they could be made in a more sensitive way..

The original Kanta laga was also a naughty song, but it was not raunchy.

What spoilt the song was the expressions on the face, the postures, the body movements (cant call them dance) which spoke volumes.

I hadn't watched the old Devdas..but the new one showed a lot more grandios than what was originally scripted in the actual story. But I enjoyed the songs.

Kabhi kabhi, Don,Sholay -these movies I cannot imagine with a new star cast and i am kind of prejudiced that the brilliant performance by Sanjeev Kumar,Amitabh Bacchan, Dharmendra , the leading ladies Jaya bhaduri & Hema Mailini in sholay can be matched or surpassed by any present age hero/heroines.

The songs of these movies are also unparralled.

I dislike remixes with a passion. What was shown or portrayed in a playful manner in those days is mutilated beyond expression and the current videos can easily be certied as a "A' category. The playfulness of then is made cheap and vulgar now and the added noise in the name of music is too much of a torture.

It is like seeing a very elderly lady(in her 80's) dressing up like Mallika Sherawat and jiving in a disc/..(this is a similie..no offence should be taken)..

Just to play devil's advocate: Could it be that in the human experience, there are only so many stories; in the breath, there is a large but finite number of tunes; and that all of life is simply about going through the process and knowing that your own pattern will be unique... just like everyone else's?

I used to have very strong opinions about remixes, but then there are songs (NOT videos) I actually like better on the second round. And I am beginning to wonder about the old days when to sing a Rafi or Lata song, you had to strain to sound just like them. Were they so wonderful? Now I am more tolerant of remixes and remakes: after all, I don't have to watch or listen to them unless I want to!

But, to each their own. I just found Priya's first sentence irresistible and wanted to chime in.

PS: Shantanu Moitra's 'Pal pal har pal' in Lage Raho Munnabhai is a great illustration of an 'inspired' tune being better. Cliff Richards first dreamt up the same notes in 'Theme for a Dream.' However, the combination of Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam (whatever the new spelling) singing with their usual delicacy and sureness of 'sur' makes it an altogether better song. 'Theme for a Dream' is a very nice song, but this is pretty nice too.

ARR mostly gets "inspired" by the beats of many songs though the tunes are original for the most part.

ID copied Nimbooda Nimbooda, but in this case the copied version sounds a little better because of the faster tempo.

Shantanu Moira copied Kaisi Paheli Zindagani (Parineeta) from Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss to build a Dream on"

No one is completely original these days.

They said about the title song that it was an original beat that they tried because they were trying to be innovative. The song is a hit of course, but when I heard it, I realized that the beat is exactly like Sean Paul's Temperature!
If they had to copy, atleast they could have not claimed that the music is original.

oh oh kay, i was thinking, this golmaal sounds familiar, and its "Temperature" 😃
