One comparative analogy I can think of is Microsoft Corp. Let's leave aside quality - and look at the monopoly, success, and demand issues, and we'll find a lot in common with HR.

Microsoft Windows is currently the most used operating system - HR is currently the most hired MD.

Windows operates in the vast majority of computers, HR gives music in the vast majority of movies.

Since there is so much demand for Windows, they can afford to sell a greater number of units at lower prices, and the same is the case with HR.

Windows has monopolized the operating system industry, and so has HR, to an extent.

Competitors and rivals hate Microsoft and are eagerly waiting for Windows to fail. They badmouth the company, file lawsuits, claim that it is killing off all competition by unfair means. Remind you of HR's rivals?

Anything Microsoft does is in the news - and if it's bad news, then there's added gleefulness. HR's case again.

I support Microsoft because I feel any company should be allowed to take advantage of their status in the industry to further their market share, even if it means putting in tons of programs in their operating system, to market it. I believe in free market and the choice of the people. Similarly, I feel HR also has the right to market himself as he pleases, even if it means taking advantage of his relationship with T-Series and showing tons of promos on TV and bringing out inspired or modified songs.

The day people stop buying Microsoft Windows, the company will fail. The same will happen with HR. Until and unless people choose otherwise, both will continue to rule.

Arre in any debate where there is no one from opposite side, call Shady. He can argue either way, so he should be able to hold fort till some other members join him.

But if we are having a serious discussion, then we should have the rules out and maybe at the start of the thread, decide who falls in which side so that we ensure that no one side is heavily backed up and we know who all are in the ring for the discussion. Keepts matters in right perspective.

Is that ok?

If yes, we can select a topic and gather the members who fall on either side. We can do this via pms, so that we dont spoil this thread.

Sure - this is a great idea - Yes we should identify the speakers for or against the motion at the very beginning, and if someone wants to join in the middle, he/she needs to take a particular side at the outset of his/her post...

So rules defined now.. Hope we can start a discussion soon too

But we still can't live without it - we'll take a few bugs with the entertainment - Mac may be better, but too boring, you see

Jaya.............. loved that comment.... what a one liner come back to Shady's great post!!!!!!!!!

This kind of debate is the best. Nothing personal about, full of jest and wit and good humour and repartee between the members participating in the debate.

Shady, brilliant come back 👏

I guess the highest selling point for Windows is its user-friendliness or ease of use....

If you say HR's music is easy to listen, I agree to that point because there is hardly any music to appreciate in it, and whatever little is there is very easy to identify as being lifted from some place else 😃

i agree with you here as I am so much for a free market system. I believe India is progressing not digressing. Many people talk of INdia's progress negatively and hate it's movement towards westernization. At the same time they forget the weaknesses of the so called golden era. Plus, we are living in a Global society and if we don't compete then we may be like many other countries which I wont name as not to offend anybody. But, many countries holding onto the past and not willing to face the reality of globalization are falling apart. They blame the west and hope to destroy it hoping to keep themselves alive in this manner. But, the truth is with india's growth, the west is receiving great things from the east in exchange. It's a wonderful fusion for both countries.

IN a like manner, I commend Hr. Trust me anyone who was able to capture the heart of the masses would do the same thing as HR. He is not dumb by any means. He said in one of his interviews that there are many more people who may be more talented then him, but he knows what sells and that is a gift from god. It is primarily teenagers and young adults who buy music. When the beatle mania struck, suprisingly people said the exact same things about the beatles. That they are repetitive, destroying the youth, they don't have melody like the singers of that time, etc. Now I am not saying HR is anywhere near the beatles, but the idea is that anything crazy successful will have it's share of criticism.

NOthing can be perfect and what goes up must come down. There is no doubt in what others have mentioned. But, trying to keep yourself alive, trying to capture market share, trying to stay on the top is human nature. All your favourite people use marketing gimmics, to say they don't is being naive.

We all do it or atleast try to do it. When we go on a job interview, we don't mention our weaknesses, but our strengths. So how is Hr any different.

We can put it this way - Windows and HR are the choice of the masses - and yes the reason is probably userfriendliness.. while the elite or professionals in both fields may opt for what they feel is the better product (like Mac/Linux or ARR/Sonu) - the majority continue to swear by Windows and HR - which is perfectly fine by them

True. It easily supported pirated software too, making it even more cost effective to the end user.

But today, many softwares dont work and we need to go find substitutes for the softwares so that we can continue to work on windows.

A day can come when the software cant be substituted but windows can be.

That day Windows becomes no longer MASS appeal.

Till then, they are wise to cash in on the popularity.

(comments on software are by a computer illiterate person. dont tear me to peices for it 😛)
