but inspite of that i am not in the favour of calling her back i know many people here including yours truly are supporters of appada but i strongly believe that once a decision has been taken it cannot and should not be reversed.even if the judges feel it was a mistake its too late now.u have made ur bed and u must lie on it.the other contestants would feel bad if the decision to reinstate her is made.it would seem as if the judges are a bit partial to the yalgaar gharaana.all hell would also break loose if sunithaji were to win the contest which im sure she is capable of.

so friends let us forget what has happened and let us concentrate on the finale.as it is bhaskarda had mentioned that there would be another contest.so let us move on

totally agree with u.

also wanted to say that when we say someone is the best, we are making a comparative statement and implying that the other person is not. it's good to have a bit of empathy for the other side in these situations. in that vein, and that vein only, i would like to say that for me all three mentors- Appa, Sahana and Surpremi (in alphabetical order)- TAKEN TOGETHER are the best. It's wrong IMO to single out one as the best. they've all shown what a big heart they have. I know if i were there in their gharana that i would want them to "fight" for me. They've done so here even at the risk of offending popular opinion. they've guided their contestants well and taken the brunt of it all. they each have their strengths and are unmatched in that sense. in my eyes, they are together THE BRAVEST, THE BEST.

thanks. even if i have had the "other side" here, i hope it is apparent that i have tremendous respect for you, both as a person and as a singer. for me, you guys/ ladies are the best. i've personally never been able to decide who amongst Lata, Asha, KK and Rafi are/ were the best. and i hope my statements are taken in that vein.

this wld have been better said in the other thread, but we cant post there as members. so here goes.

i agree with a statement on that thread that some of the "fun has been at other people's expense". this might be an unpopular thing to write here but if we consider IF sgmp as family, then we should be sensitive to such things in the future. to put out articles, supposedly as spoof, is fun for some, not everyone. how would we like it if we were the topic of those taaza-news type "fun" discussions? as far as i can see, noone deserves that kind of public "referral". from what i can tell, we are all very sensitive when it comes to ourselves. how do we conveniently forget that others can be equally sensitive? now i am sure there'll be some who'll protest that there was no ridicule. well, that depends. there are some things one sees/ feels only when one is on the other side.

i know also that there is a general clamor to not raise some of these issues. let sleeping dogs lie. that might indeed be helpful in some cases, but not in this case IMO. if we want to go forward as a strong team, we should have it cleansed out. for that to happen it's not always a good idea to suppress. For me, the strength and vitality comes from diversity, from folks with "difficult" opinions, and from folks who can channel those hard opinions effectively, not just from having folks who'll lie down and pay obeisance.

to clear something else, i also feel that noone has intentionally tried to ridicule anyone here. if i really felt that, i wldn't bother with any of this.

Rahul,

I will agree with ur thought that it is always better to clear things up so that we dont have problems in the future.

But then, what is the problem.

"SK was made scapegoat" - I ask by whom? If I know the answer, I can solve the problem.

** to anyone who read this paragraph** it is removed on pm received from SK. Dont quote it please.

"Ridicule or put down others" - Are we not entitled to voice our thoughts or concern here. Or is this a mere Yes Sir post. As I see it, when I post here, I only post on the issue and not intended at a particular member. My thoughts remain on that thread and do not go beyond the thread.

"Public referral" - An intruder came in, attacked some members and mods. Posts seen by some. Attack made on shady also. He just makes one of his creative writing things. No finger lifted or pointed at anyone.

So what is the issue here.

Please feel free to take this offline, if you too so desire.

Totally agree with this part. This forum wouldn't be as fun without the many opinions here. They make for very interesting (and educational sometimes) discussions. And that is what a forum is for, right? Discussions?

Priya, thanks for the well-considered reply. i'd love to take ALL sensitive things off-line. but it gets a bit one-sided if we have certain things brought up publicly and then have to bring the "opposing" viewpoints off-line.

btw, in any of this, i was not referring to anything between sur and yourself. that's for the two of u to resolve as u see fit between friends. mine was a more general stmt and fwiw, i did feel some empathy for certain folks when i read that article, even when i knew that there was no intention to hurt. i also think that that article cld have been more fully enjoyed at some other time. there's just an atmosphere that gets created at times, and sometimes even a good thing can hurt. but that's just my lousy opinion.

fwiw, i also "felt" for sur when he was singled out as someone who had broken some rules. from what i could tell, he might have asked for an extension etc. Someone does so explicitly, others implicitly. in any case, asking for rules to be changed is surely not the same as breaking them?
