SDK.....Music rendered by Himesh, ARR,Preetam,Sandeep.....are just like Fast Food. Nice to eat during week ends. But you may not like it every day.

Listen to the songs sung by Lil Champs....The songs were sung first, atleast twice their age before. But the charm or melody still can be enjoyed. But so called fusion music with copied ideas will not last long...

Thanks to IF and Retro cafe...we are able to enjoy those melodious jems even today and feel.....somthing which I cannot tell.

Why? Is it that bad? Few girls looked bad in jeans or pants, but still they were wearing them. If they wore a traditional Indian attire, then they would have looked much better. The best example would be Ujjaini during the Calcutta concert looked really odd. She looked much prettier in Indian clothes.

Oh man! its getting long. I can can write much more, but will stop here for now.

Appa...ji,

Oldendays Gajji used to come on stage during final episode and show his emotions and thank who were instrumental with the Great SAREGAMA ....a pure musical show. But now you and Iwill not see him as his priorities changed. He is behind buck and when some one pays him to promote those dresses what else he can do? Just cash in only 😭😭

Gaj ji has nothing to do here. I am talking about the auditons round where thousands of kids came for auditions. The clothes there were not provided by Zee.

Great point Sahana. Here in the US the teaching techniques are different and fun. Recently one of my friend wanted to learn guiter. He basically liked few pieces from different english songs and thats how he got interested. He went to a teacher. The teacher showed him how to play a piece, and also taught him another piece. He practiced those songs for two weeks and went back to him. He again taught him two more pieces. He practiced them too, but in the mean time my friend developed a feel for the instrument and started trying out new things on his own. In few months he was able to play few songs, and wanted to learn how to play the guiter in a more professional and proper way. So the bottom line is he did not loose interest.

Do you think if the teacher started with SRGMP, in the first class and told him that it would take at least 2 years before he could play his fav piece, then he would have continued. NO.

I have learnt classical music, and I hated the first one year which made me shout Sa Ga, Re Ma, Ga Pa,.................. I lost all interest. But I was forced to continue.

Exactly. When it comes to teaching methods, we have to learn a lot from the west. If you go to a traditional Indian classical teacher and ask him/her to teach you how to play a certain classical-based film song, he'll think you have got it all wrong.

Very few children of today's generation proceed to learn Indian classical music for more than a few years because of this limitation in teaching.

I mentioned the Yamaha Music School in an earlier post. I used to accompany my then 5-yr daughter to the classes. The kids were first made to listen to simple songs, to move their bodies to the songs, then finally play them on the keyboard (but were asked to sing along as they played). They were made to distinguish between different instruments and then read musical notations. In every class, the children were asked to go close to the teacher and watch how she played the piano. Initiation into beats was also a lot of fun.

Before the classes, I used to wonder how such little kids could be taught the intricacies of classical music. After the classes, I marvelled at the ingenuity of the person who had designed the structure of the course for little children.

Sahana and Appa i agree to yur comments regd learning just srgmp continously for many years makes the whole process very boring. but isnt it a fact also tht for getting to this subject better yu need to actually do tht. i somehow feel it is needed too. my daughter is learning classical vocal and her guruji taught her just tht for full one and a half yr. And tht particular teaching is showing it;s fruit now. the fast rate at which she is picking up the raags is maybe due to tht only.

but yes maybe if it could be made interesting then definitely it would b better in the long run. because then many may actually come forward.

Hey Salil - great! Now what needed to be done - upload or link to original raga and the movie song too. Also we need some experts help (Barnalidi, Sahana .....) how the transition (i.e. Suddha Swara part) happened! That will be a quite a deal! 😊
