Brilliant post Adi 👏

And yes, I think we are again debating it all over again because even after Debo's album releasing after a long long time (and HMV/Zee not able to capitalize the initial hype), its still hugely popular.. and people who could not digest Debo's much deserved win, are not able to digest this success as well... Anyways, to each his own... and lets not spoil the moments of Debojit's glory by fighting over over analysed past all over again...

Ultimately - time will be the best judge of who becomes successful in the long run and am sure with Debo's voice quality and other virtues of being a tremendous human being, he will go a long long way...

Here's wishing Vinit good luck as well, so that he can really differentiate between quantity and quality and choose the correct thing for him!

Thank you Jaya..😳😳😳,

I also hope that all these singers who have found ther first recognition thro' Saregamapa do well.. How I wish Ismail Darburji score some brilliant music and bring us something like HDDCS or Devdas..or

ARR or Preetam or Shantanu Moitra do something...

HOW I WISH !!!!😊

Anyways - coming over to the point that you made that if he sells, he must be doing something right... now again we are getting confused with quantity vs. quality here... Even Govinda-Karishma-David Dhawan used to sell like crazy at one point of time... but at best we can describe that genre is obscene comedy... Commercially, Kalia, Lawaris or Coolie might be bigger hits, they still do not qualify as better movies when we compare them to Abhimaan and Mili... Its all about appreciating the refined quality Shady and not the mass production quantity... Precisely the reason I would still choose to listen to HDDCS not ABA after 5 years!!

You get me wrong, Jaya. I am not discussing the quality of his music. Like I said, I am not a great judge of music - I can only opine on what I've liked hearing and what I haven't.

All I'm saying we need to give HR his due as a successful composer - the most successful in recent memory. And I'm not talking about his recent singing success - I'm talking about movies like Tere Naam, Humraaz, Aitraaz - I still remember a lot of songs from those movies, and I'm not at all surprised Tere Naam was the biggest selling film album ever.

I am one of the first to pass cracks at his nasal singing, but I respect HR the composer for making music that works, even if it is a recreation of others' works, as he rightfully admits. And let's be frank, after 50 years of music in Indian cinema, there is very little original music left - most people have to rely on inspirations.

HR has his finger on the pulse of the nation at the moment, and I admire him for that - whether I like his singing or his attitude or his dress sense matters little in the longer scheme of things.

I think a lot of people are still stuck with the image of HR the mentor. Let's get out of it, C2005 was over months ago.

I understand what you are trying to say but again I get this feeling that we are just moving in circles and discussing the same things again and again and again... Frankly, may be there is no end to this debate... I could have replied to each of your points individually but really dont want to stretch this again.... Lets agree to disagree....

As for HR being the successful MD today, yes his music sells but again we get back to the quality vs. quantity issue here so wont repeat that... as for him being the great composer for Tere Naam, Humraaz, Aitaraaz etc - how can we even give credits to the composer when its an open secret that most of these tunes are rehashed versions... And why is that other great composers in ARR or ID or SM still find and compose original tunes while HR cannot.. even they have the same 50 years ot Indian cinema music behind them, isn't it? One just needs to have the creativity inside.. and am sorry to say that HR does not have it...

Have we come out of the C2005 hysteria for HR the mentor.. Of course we have... All we are discussing here is his compositions and his singing... And if you look at it.. he was arrogant then, and he is arrogant now... So, I guess its time for him to get out of that mode! But old habits and natural instincts die hard... Wish something could just be done about it!!!
