excellent points mdroy.

inadvertently perhaps, but he's certainly gotten folks thinking about what's good or bad in other music genres. next step could be in taking the good, and leaving the bad behind. to the extent we do get the good eventually, i feel our music will be better off for it.

this might also be a transitional period where anything labelled rock sells, but it's an important change in mind-set all the same. it's getting people to look beyond and experiment on an unprecedented scale. the catalyst for this would have to be HR's phenomenal success which others wld want to emulate. we can expect quick-buck copy-cats initially. but as the going gets competitive for them we might ultimately have music that is more refined and suitable for most tastes, not just those of the new gen.
