The genius in Bollywood it was he the Immortal music Director Salil Chowdhury."IT WAS HE" Good at playing almost any instrument, conversant with Indian and western classical music and himself a great poet. Also gave music in various indian languages "IT WAS HE".

1. O Sajna (Parakh): The best song ever created for Bollywood quite unequivocally.

2. Bichchua (Madhumati): what great melody, what wizardry, awesome.

3. Rajnigandha Phool Tumhare (Rajnigandha): love it.

4. Zara Woh Muskara Diye (Half Ticket): The execution is immaculate.

5. Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye (Anand): A beautiful song.

6. Itna Na Mujse Tu Pyar Badha (Chhaya): Apparently inspired by one of Beethoven's pieces.

7. Jago Mohan Pyare (Jaagate Raho): A beautiful raga based song by Lataji's classy voice.

8. Koi Hota Jisko Apna (Mere Apne): A typical sad song.

9. Tere Liye (Anand): How well Mukeshji's thin voice is used to make it sound full.

10. Saat Bhai Champa: I take the liberty of including a Bengali song.I hope not to offend. This song has great sweetness.

I really hope that his name will be written in the Histroy of Bollywood among the top ten successful composers.

Salilda composed music for one movie which starred Jaya Badhuri and Anil Dhawan. Does anyone remember that movie? The name ended with Data. There was a song by Lataji, Some of the words are

Phir Bhi na dar agar diye bujhe, zahar to hai tere liye..

Jab Bhi Koi kahin yeh gam mujhe ghere, lagata hai yun jaise sapne na honge pure..

Does anyone of you have songs from that movie? All songs were great.

Here's a link to all Annadata songs. You can download the songs by clicking on them.

Annadata Songs

And As far as I can recall, there was one song in "Mere Bhaiya" which was based on Saat bhai chompa - was it "Pyaas liye manwa hamara yeh tarse". Beautiful tune.

And while on MERE BHAIYA I recommend you listen to an extremely magnificent song from the film - Marzi hai tumhari tum hamse nafrat karo chahe chahe pyaar karo. Here's the link to that song:

The links are sometimes bad. So if you try after a day or 2 or may be few days, it will work. I have been going on this site for the past year now to get the songs I didn't have. Patience, patience...

The third song on this page ---

http://www.calcuttaweb.com/gaan/lata.shtml

aaj tobe eituku thaak
baaki kotha pore hobe
dhushor dhulir poth
bhenge pore ache roth
bohudur dur jete hobe

I just love this Bengali song.... and I know for sure that Salil-da used this tune for some Hindi film song. I am stretching my mind but I cannot recollect. Can anyone tell me which Hindi film song is based on this Bengali song?
