Another thing would be picturization of the song...
I personally thought nach baliye and kajra re were not great songs musically but abhishek, amitabh bachchan and aishwarya's charisma or mere fact they came together made them a hit...mostly. as far as I am concern...I dont like both songs...except the alisha's little part in kajra re.
I think same goes with ek main aur ek too hai..just bcoz abhishek is singing for the first time.
aati kya khandala...
apun bola..
WHERE IS THE REAL MUSIC IN ALL THESE...??? 🤢
I think the real word for success would be that oft repeated thing...it should be "HAT KE".
Be it nasal...aur besura...it should be HAT KE.

Then again a lot of "Hat ke" songs become hits because of Hype around it.
On another note, remember how T-Series used to promote Gulshan Kumar's songs. God Bless his departed soul, he was a mediocre singer and music was mediocre but they played it over and over again to kind of make the audience used to his voice.

Completely agree with the bolded parts!

I remember there was a song called "Take on me" by the Norwegian group A-ha in the 80s. It flopped both times it was released by radio. But, with the advent of MTV, the group released a music video. It was very nicely picturized - it used animations, etc. And guess what? It became a hit!

Another factor which affects the popularity of a song is how much the song is pushed on you through advertising, the media, stores and other outlets.

Dear raghav supari.

Very diffcult to answer same Q as which film would be a hit. Certainly naam bikta hai, beat bikta hai ( aajkal)
aur nasal singing bikta hai.
light things apart: A good song is one which pleases heart but it may not be a hit.

Nice post!

What makes a song a hit? A lot of factors

- Who is performing..
- Who in singing..
- Mass or Class appeal
- Lyrics
- Music and MD
- Film Director and Banner

Sometimes songs need to grow onto you and after tat they become hits.. songs from RDB are like tat.. tey just grow onto you.. I think its with all A R Rahman songs.. u just cant ignore them...

songs like Kajra Re and Right Here Right Now or Dus Bahaane become a hit because of proper hype.. c'monnn.. i lvoe these songs =D They are definitely not musical marvels..but they can sure make me tap my feet!

I agree with everyone! 👍🏼
Except the part that Kajra was a not-so-good song, musically. Just my opinion.

Probably I didnt let that song grow on me....just my opinion.

Well all HR techno songs are being hits. Maybe all music directors should start their song with an oooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuu.
