Everyone probably agrees that the standard of SaReGaMaPa has decreased ever since it was reinvented into this 'interesting(?)' Challenge 2005. However, before this new avatar of the show, there were many beautiful voices that this show displayed. Nihira was one of those voices and it is sheer sadness that she had to leave, but there were others also. I remember there was this south indian girl Janaki Iyer from Bombay who was very good. Her song 'Kaahe Tarsaaye Jiyara' still rings in my ears. There also was a singer called Shoma Bhattacharya who was equally good. She was continuously winning for 10 episodes before she called it quits. Then right at the beggining, there was Gaurav Bangia who created the 1st record of winning 10 performances in a row. These people could really sing. Very few in this present Challenge 2005 can match their expertise. However, where have all these singers gone?
If only those days when contestants actually sang well returned😭
I also wonder about the same thing many times.
I have always watched Sa Re Ga Ma right from the very first episode. In those days there used to be really good singers, especially in the Semi finals n Finals, where it was really difficult to choose one from them. Hardly anyone used to be out of 'sur'. Plus they also had those challenging rounds like "No orchestra" where you had to just showcase your voice and your singing skills.
Nowadays, there are very few 'good' ones in the entire lot. Still I would say Sa Re Ga Ma Pa at least has more quality singers than II or FG, where each n every one of them goes out of 'sur' with regularity!!
Some of the memorable singers from the early Sa Re Ga Ma:
Sanjeevani
Mukund
Deepali
Mridula
Swapnil
Amrita
Sanjeev (from US)
Parthiv
Bela
Mohd. Vakil
