Where is the old talent of SaReGaMaPa?

Everyone probably agrees that the standard of SaReGaMaPa has decreased ever since it was reinvented into this 'interesting(?)' Challenge 2005. However, before this new avatar of the show, there were many beautiful voices that this show displayed. Nihira was one of those voices and it is sheer sadness that she had to leave, but there were others also. I remember there was this south indian girl Janaki Iyer from Bombay who was very good. Her song 'Kaahe Tarsaaye Jiyara' still rings in my ears. There also was a singer called Shoma Bhattacharya who was equally good. She was continuously winning for 10 episodes before she called it quits. Then right at the beggining, there was Gaurav Bangia who created the 1st record of winning 10 performances in a row. These people could really sing. Very few in this present Challenge 2005 can match their expertise. However, where have all these singers gone?

If only those days when contestants actually sang well returned😭

There was this one girl, I can't remember her name, but in the initial rounds of SRGMP when Nihira had first come, Nihira had won 8 episodes in a row till she lost to Arpita I think. There was a girl before Nihira, pretty young too, she had a very childish voice but perfect control over sur, any1 remembers her name ?

Shoma was good, Ronkini was good, Abhijit was excellent. I thought he was very good in Challenge 2005 as well, but maybe he didn't reach upto the mentors expectations.

C05 had some gud singers.. Nihira, Hema, Sharib... i think they had a good classical base...

Well said guys!! I'm not repeating the name you guys already mentioned above but to add that even in current SAREGAMAPA I felt that Nihira, Himani, Vishvas, Abhijit, Sarib and Sonanda were too good. They all were far better than...

Ronkini was my favorite too.. a few days ago I saw repeat telecase of Indian Idol 1 season. I had missed the entire first season of II. She sang "kahe chhed chhed mohe" in that episode, and it was mesmerizing!! I hope she makes it big in the Indian music scene.

I don't think we should blame SRGMP for NIHIRA's Elemination, It's the public, Cause if public would vote for real Talents then we'd still have NIHIRA and Hemu on the show. SRGMP has nothing to do with this it's us , we were busy protecting our own city people wether they sing good or bad anyways too late now

Perhaps u are right. The Indian public has truly gone tone-deaf now. Instead of supporting true good singers, they support mimicry artists. The sanctity of music doesn't exist anymore. You see modern girls dressing in almost nothing in cheap remixes of old melodies. It totally is blasphemy against PURE MUSIC.

Plus the fact that HR has gained popularity in India even though he produces nasal secretions, plagiarizes and basically produces computer-generated music.

Music today doesn't touch the soul. It just pleases the senses.
Guess its wrong to blame the show.

You know what scares me, what after the current generation of singers?! HR's music is good..very good... but i dont think its gonna help me relax !!

we need singers in that genre.. BADLY !!!

As for the voting, a LOT of factors affect the voting. Indian janta itni bi bewakoof nahin hain !
