PRACTICALLY SPEAKING !!!!!!

Before I start I must mention here that I am a hardcore fan of HemaChandra's. Btw my views are based on what I know about music and I am NOT a professional. Better to make things clear before ppl pounce on me here which is likely to happen.

Some comparison between two of our final contestants.

Vinit / Debojit

Advantages

Vinit: Good Voice / Can handle Sonu Nigam & Rafi Saheb's songs pretty well / Can sing well with a little concentration

Debojit : Good Voice / Flexible and can sing songs in various catagories

Disadvantages

Vinit: Cannot sing either extremely high or low notes properly / Tends to go off key (besura) / Goes nasal sometimes

Debojit : Voice cracks at high notes sometimes / Cannot pronouce some words properly while singing / Makes attempt at songs which prove to be too difficult for him

Selling themselves

Vinit - He just stands there and his guruji does all the publicity for him. From making him wear a topi to removing his shawl to coming up with a love story etc. etc. Stories just go on and on.

Plus point : Has tremendous respect for mother / His actually seems to be a little scared of his guru (I can perfectly understand why !!!)

Debojit - Breaks down whenever possible / his wife likewise. Likes to put continous emphasis on the fact that his mother's last wish was that he becomes a successful singer. Has a mentor who does not hype at all but does show his support in his own way but sometimes ends up putting his foot into his own mouth.

Age / Career / Future

Vinit : 17 / Sung already once for HR's movie / Many more opportunities coming up with his mentor / More training can work wonders for him over time / Bottom line: Young / Energetic / Has plenty of time and room to improve further

Debojit : 29 + but less than 30 i guess / Had the opportunity at doing some Play back singing but did not work out / Both wife and himsel have been struggling in Mumbai for the past couple of yrs / At the right age and needs a break / Needs to take some lessons to improve pronounciation

Verdict as to who really needs the win at this point of time ???????????

Debojit (ONCE again I am not a support of either Vinit or Debojit) but am just being a little practical. Being at such an age and still struggling with his career, this win will give him some sense of security which any human at that age would need. Vinit has much more time and infact in another couple of years with good classical training he can reach the skies.

I hope I am making some sense here .. do share your views...

since you asked for feedback -

i don't agree with everything you said (that is ok, healthy to disagree) but overall your post seems sensible...

although, i think vinit needs the win more b/c he will have a lot more growing up to do after his terrible training under hr and friendship w/ people like himani....i don't think he can recover. he has become very spoiled, very removed from reality. vinit needs this win otherwise he will most likely disappear off the music industry's radar. if he loses, his chances look pretty slim to none. but, if he can get grounded again, get some proper voice training, a mentor who will kick his butt into shape...then maybe he will succeed - it's a longshot, but who knows.

hmmm well your side of the argument is also true but again his age is such and infact with Saregamapa ... neither age is a barrier or neither the fact that you have previously participated.. so the platform will always be there..

whereas for Debojit he is at such an age where going through all this again would be too much for him both emotionally & physically i think...

but hey would like to hear more about what other's think as well.... 😃

Sorry Sima ....In one way I disagree with you...This is where all the drama starts that he/she is trying to achieve this for his/her mother/father/lover and all the emotional things which is part of everyone's life.

Realistically I believe everyone has certain goals in life...And most of us would love to do what it takes(in the sense Hard Work) and become a succesful in life for our loved one's apart from ourselves???..... So they are not any more special in that category than us .....

They need to prove they have enough talent to overcome those and gain votes legitimately not through sympathy......

I know even though my vote will not go to anyone and I am not sure it matters also to anyone over here..to whom I vote..

In one sentence....Talent should win over sympathy...But none of the two are eligible to stay on that stage....so I am 😕😕😕

I agree with you vsmaganti, that talent should have won the contest. But the best talent was voted out by the esteemed audience. Now what we are left is with practical reasons that Sima Samuel is talking about.
I like both Vinit & Debo (& of course hate HR!). I believe if Vinit wins, HR is going to hype him more, make him more arrogant & make him stress on other things except humility & riyaaz. I think he is at such a stage & age that Vinit needs to step back & let his originality take over with more riyaaz. If he does that, he will last much longer…if he doesn't he will burn out by getting stuck to one kind of sound, music.
Debo is equally talented, and needs to win 'coz he is at such an age that he needs to make a mark soon.

So, practically speaking it would good for both of them if Debo wins.

Agree, now equally talented people are out there, the best talent was voted out, my only interest is in a sadistic mode. I want to see how much PO'ed I get by a virtual personality like HR and am intending to watch the final result just to see

If Vineet wins:

does he really make the mockery of the word pyar by disclosing the girl's name on national TV, oh man I really want to see the girl's dad's 😡 face or does he just backtrack and say there was no pyar thing(like our Indian politicians dump topics after elections)

If Debo wins:

want to see what kind of tantrums Vineet throws up, want to see HR go nuts

but dont give a damn who wins(and am not gonna vote either)

your analysis seems ok,but nonmusical factors should not be considered in deciding best singer. There are millions of people who go through much more than Debojit to make their dreams come true.
Like someone in the reply said, I think neither are deserving and my feeling is no one should be voted for. I dont think both have a huge future in the music industry. All the hype will disppear when the 2006 round starts and of course the winner will have a nice apartment and money to look forward to. Thats about it.
Winning these competitions necessarily does not mean that they have a great career ahead of them. With 2-3 singers coming out each year from these reality music shows pretty soon public is going to get tired.
