Hi everyone,

I realise I am a late entrant here so can be looked upon as an interloper. But the ouster of Hemchandra, after Nihira and Himani, forced me to write this. Reality TV is exciting stuff, but somewjhere we are losing it all. Time and again average singers are winning over the better ones. Not many may agree with me but Indian Idol Abhijit Sawant was a not a patch on runners up Amit Sana as a singer. Debojit and Vinit are not a patch on Hemchandra and the girls. This debate is on over Indian Idol 2 also, where time and again poor singers are coming out tops and the good ones are at the bottom. And who can forget the nasty surprise when fame gurukul gave us Qazi. Voting for these people us not free, so what are voters thinking of when they vote? ARE WE FIT TO VOTE? A clamour should begin NOW for proper judges to judge the last few rounds or else India will keep getting average to bad singers. Debojit might be good at a local function, but is he really worth being called India's voice? Vinit is certainly not better than the girls and Hem, but of the two he is far far better. There should be a serious SOS campaign --- Save Our Singers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

true enough, debojit is miles better than qazi. It's just that the best are still not winning because regional, emotional biases are making us close our ears. And debojit is certainly not the best srgmp 2005 had to offer. The initial rounds judged by professionals shows that. Debojit always got a yellow card before just about making it in his journey to the agnipariksha. Nihira, Himani, Hem, Vinit all got a straight green right thru.

madam, welcome to the country of our jawahar's dreams. when we cant even agree on who the PM shld be and when the decisions of the PM himself r questioned and often criticized by certain segments of the publc, what do u hope to accomplish thru judges? also, kiska judge- tumhara yaa mera? if that same judge eliminates ur favorite contestant, u'll be rebelling like Laloo's gundas... You'll be saying kee "kharida hua hai".

anyway, welcome to the world of free-wheeling democracy n public voting. never guaranteed to give u the best results, but better than the alternative we see with the "padosi mulk". n as 4 regionalism, when was the last time u saw any of our country's different PMs win a seat in parliament outside their constituency n region? could a deve gowda get elected from UP, or a rajiv gandhi from TN? yehee toh mazaa n genius hai public voting ka!

In the last judge's round, Himani got yellow, Twinkle got green. Even though judges round are a much better indication of a singer's calibre (of

course depends on who the judges are 😉), not all the decisions from the judges round reflected the quality of a singer. For eg. Rajiv got 2 greens out of 3 (over Niladri/ Dilshad and over Debojeet/ Abhijeet) and almost every1 agrees that Rajiv was 1 of the worst selected and he was openly exposed in the agnipariksha.

anyway, of all singers mentioned only hema, nihira and sharib deserves special attention in our arguments on who should win the title. for the other contestants, it's pretty much a personal bias. in my opinion himani and vineet should have been eliminated a while back (vinit right after Rajiv and Paresth and Himani right after Twinke - if Twinke sang like the way she sang in judges round, then Himani should have been eliminated before her). Swananda and Ujjaini should have made it further (same with Sharib)

Somesh ji, we know not everything is fair in this world, but we can just try. By trying at least the probability of things happening in right manner are higher that's all. In the end 'Hota hai wahi jo manjure khuda hota hai'

Nila:

My take on this ...

You can drive reality shows in two directions ..

1. For the channel to make money out of people's emotions

2. For the channel to work towards getting the best man/woman to the top

The right thing to do would be to take the second route. You get respectable neutral judges to judge the talent of these singers and let the best person emerge from the crowd. The drawback to that would be the TRP! Do you think public cares for a show like this... No way! Is the channel making any money out of this .. Not a chance!

So what do they do ... they take the corporate (first) route. Lets get the bevakoof janta involved ... woh toh sarr-phire hain, paani ki tarah paisa bahaaenge. Channel bhi khush, Janta bhi khush. They don't give a damn who the winner is. They have already made enough money off of the show and only a small percent of that is spent on the award money and music album. Baaki woh bikke ya na bikke, unki balaa se.

To make matter worse, we, the janta, are emotional fools. We *love* to give sympathy votes. Thodi na-insaafi dekhi nahin TV pe inn contestants ke upar, aur votes ki baarish kar dee. That has been the trend so far - Qazi got the step child treatment, so he was always brought in ; Arijit was a dhokhebaaz dost, so he got kicked out. Abhijit Sawant was a simple honest no-nonsense boy so he won ; Rahul Vaidya was over-confident so he got kicked out. The same will happen in SRGMP.

So, just sit back, chill and enjoy the show without straining your mind. 😊 These reality shows are not about kaun hai India ki Voice or who is the best singer. These shows are about who the janta can connect with. If Debojit, Qazi, Abhijeet are honest people with no attitude issues, then what is wrong in them winning. Jo achchhe singers hain, unka career toh yeh Music Directors banaa hi denge, toh janta parvaah kyon kare?

In the long run - as Sonu Nigam rightfully said - only a good singer will move forward. The prize money has nothing to do with it. It is just an added bonus if the best happens to win. 😊
