The way panchamda used sound effects ... the lost would be endless ...

Like in Jaanu meri jaan ... the effect of Bus ki ghati (bell) , the effect of brush on bongo in Zindagi ke safar mein, the effect of clinking glass in chura liya hai tumne, effect of recording voice vibrations on the face of timpani ... on and on

Infact in satte pe satta when the second amitabh bacchan makes an entry in the movie, there's a sound effect that was created by making a girl drink water and gargle infront of the microphone !!! Can anyone beat that ??

Hats off to the genius !!! We miss you panchamda !!!

👏 👏 👏 Great article, Sinhaji. Maybe everybody has thier own favourite MD, but Pancham was universal. There is nobody who can not love this genius! Not only for the melody in his songs but for the unique and very very endearing orchestration. It is impossible to hum his songs without the musical interludes. Amongst his stock, I love HRHK, not only for the path-breaking music, but hats off to DEv Saab for superb picturisation. I think it is Dev Saab's best film. Another one I will like to mention is Baharon Ke Sapane. He has used all sorts of drums, tabla, dholaki, etc to create an unforgetable effect in chunari sambhal. In the same movie, zamane ne maare jawan kaise kaise is my all time Rafi favourite.
I always maintain, we are blessed to be born Indian, for all these greats. 👏 👏 👏
