Thank you very much for the article on Panchamda and Gulzar, Sinhaji! With lyrics Gulzar has wrriten and the way Panchamda creates compositions is simply amazing! The best Gulzar-Panchamda works were in their special trilogy- Parichay, Kinara, and Khushboo. Speaking of Gulzar-Panchamda combo, did you know young Jatin and Lalit sang in the film Parichay? I bet its those kids who sang "Sa Re ke sare Ga Ma..."

Thanks again, Sinhaji! Please keep those intersting posts coming! 😊

Sinhaji,

Once again a great post from you.

Once a reviewer (probably filmfare) said that Kumar Sanu should quit singing after "1942 Love Story" because no contemporary music directors had anything better to offer.

Looks it true for the most part till today.

Sorry tantra

Im myself an instrumentalist(keyboarder & bassguitarist) and Ive played in several programmes to remember Pancham's music, it was then we realised how difficult it is to reproduce his orchestra.
SEL are OK...that's all......which aboriginal instruments... plz explain

The instrument is called..Didjeridu - Didgeridoo
here is a link : http://www.crystalinks.com/didjeridu.html

Although I am not a musician ..but a big time music listener of music from different genres.. I have found SEL to be very creative in terms of creating wonderful songs which do not have an "inspiration" attached to it.

Also considering the amazing greatness of Shankar Mahadevan ( I dont know if you have seen or heard Shakti). I think something good should come from it..
You should try and watch Shankar live with Shakti and also see SEL perform on Saturday Night series..they are amazing.

Thanks Nirajji! I am not very much informed about the lives of these legends... I think he was in love with Asha Bhonsle so why did he marry Jyoti?
Please pardon me if I am wrong... ignorance 😳

Kajra Re was an interesting song by SEL using a folk theme..
SEL is a part of band of brothers including names like Loius Banks, Ranjit Barot, Karl Peter(one of India's finest bass guitarists)

Shankar is a very classically trained singer in the Carnatic sytle but has immense knowlege of Hindustani and Western Classical..

Here's a link to Remember Shakti

My fav is Luki ... but Shankar has a major contribution in Giriraj Sudha...

Check it out...
