Unfortunately you're not the only one. The streets of urban India are teeming with youngsters doubling up trying to roll their tongues and pretending to be American. Pretty sad, methinks...but you really can't fight idiocy on such a large scale...:-)

Well...I won't put you in a spot by asking you to point out Silchar on a map...don't want to make an exhibition of ignoramuses of your ilk...I just hope you know the general direction of north-eastern India...North and East, you know? Somewhere out there, in the middle of the vast jungle beyond Calcutta? I've come across enough morons from Mumbai and Delhi and Bangalore, with their practiced Philly accents, and their pride in their ignorance about their own country, to even give up on sarcasm...it really feels like a lost cause now...:-/ When I was asked in 1st Semester Engineering class by a lecturer (a Phd holder, of course) in that very well known college in Mangalore, whether I liked being in India, after introducing myself as someone from Shillong, I just gave up...I mean, give in...you can't fight the ignorance.

Today, with all the bad blood flying around about Debojit and this pathetic television show, the last thing we need is this kind of mockery.

And by the way, the contents of local newspapers in any part of the country can provide enough material for a month's shows on comedy central...let's not even get into that...

this is NOT from a silchar newspaper... silchar has only one english newspaper called Frontier Sun and no one read it ... and it does not have any correspondent in Guwahati .. forget Mumbai ...

Its english is much better than this though :)

Silcharis read local Bengali newspapers (85%) .. and others Telegraph (Kolkata) and Assam Tribune (Guwahati).
