Very well put musicpulse. Exploitation of all these young boys and girls has become rampant ever since they were made to wear a designer-made wardrobe 'to look attractive on air', were part of huge stage shows, even were forced to change their appearance (Hemachandra moustache being shaved, remember). With fame they got their share of rewards as well as penalties. They look like mere puppets in the hands of the big people (read the show management, the music directors) manipulating them.

Its indeed a sorry state of affairs but its none other than we, the people who are to blame. Its we who want to watch our celebrities baring their emotions. We want to feel we know them. Remember how much the Kapil Dev episode on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal was hyped. Or how much footage Amitabh Bachchan gets when he is ill.

Its the same story everywhere. You have to pay the price for being a celebrity. Whats unfortunate is that these contestants are celebrities for a very short time (thats my feeling what with innumerable reality shows popping out one idol after another, after all how long is public memory anyways; though I would love to be proved wrong and see all of them go a long long way ) so they pay a price when its not even worth it ! Really hoping them all the very best in life; immense success and good fortune !

It Kapil's interview on Karan Thapar's show I think. Well, atleast, Mr. Bachchan and Mr. Dev, know what they are getting into. They have accepted thier celebrity status long back. But these kids, well some of them can cope up well with all this. But some can't. They have come into this competition thinking it was a singing contest. Take Nihira for example. What was the fuss about her body language? Her singing was superb ,wasn't it? See how crest fallen she looked? Never in her dreams she must have thought , that after a beautiful redition, her b.l will be comented upon. Its not only that, see while declaring Himani's vote percentage, camera on Nihira. See people who are watching this show zealously , are doing so for music, not for all the tamasha. Tamasha, is a bad by-product, which if taken off, will not make any difference to the show. We will still watch it, right?

The conception was definitely that of a music contest. I was one of those who enjoyed the "academia" per se. However, we know nothing of their financial condition. Why, otherwise, would Gaj change the entire pattern of the show after 10 years? The man is no fool. With other similar shows coming into the market, they can either change or saturate.

Reputation matters little in this industry. You either generate TRPs or you dont. Thats why we still have shows like Jerry Springer airing on daytime TV. Or in terms of India, thats how Ekta Maiyya is the uncrowned Queen of Soaps.

By next year all of these contestants will be forgotten and we'll have more chronicles on the attributes of the makers and the mentors.

Note: I have not checked the TRPs of this show, so can't say if the change is actually working in Zee's favour.

I agree mysticamagic. I dread to think what if someboby brings on a jerry springer or maury povich in India? 😉 God bless Mother India, I do not even want to think about it 🤢
If GS changed the format to go with other channels, he really is a fool. They knew they could not beat Zee at SRGMP, so they invented the cheap reality show, in the same genre. But little did they know, the original was to follow the copy. 😡

Yes, we have actually seen Lalu, coming out of a bath, getting a haircut, milking a cow, and eating a sumptious lunch, served by the ever sweet Rabri. Reality TV, this beats everything, doesn't it?😉

Cool down, Gs has already taken advertisements for next 3 weeks. Dignity and honesty gayi bhaad mein. The show has to continue(not to be confused with the good old do-not-give-up-line)😆

How can you stand 17 - 18 yr old kids revolting. The only way to teach them is trow them out of the show -that will teach them a lesson.

I believe in Discipline. GS set the rules, DS won by the rules. What seems to be the problem - I am confused?

If this were my show, I would throw them out for revolting and never bring them on Zee TV again.
