See in my opinion, the time to experiment is over, at this point if Himani plays unsafe in context of her genre she might jeopardise her chances.
She should actually have tried diff genre songs long back, I agree that she should do well in khayal/thumri round...
I wish she had sung some thing like 'nazar lagi rahi raja tore bangle par'..but time is gone now...
She msut sing from position of strength (read her genre).

In terms of talent Nihira is extraordinary and will revolutionize Indian music in the years to come - without a doubt. She is Alka, Shreya, Lataji and Ashaji all knit in one. Himani could carve a name for herself as an individual singer with a specialized slot in playback singing.

In any case I am eagerly looking forward to listening to the albums of both these girls.

Yup I wish AS had adviced her expt long back, Aaj ki raat is one of few songs she sang out of her genre.

she already sang thumri in one of AS music directed film.

Well, me thinks, every genre of music is at a place (far it may though) joined with other. The game is of the seven surs in all. This way every style, raag or genre is capable of revealing the remaining others in a way. The need is of a musical soul. God bless the one! Now, however hard one tries to hide one's insecurities by selectively choosing songs (that too at a contest), which can deceptively ruin a fellow (not-so-deceptive and) more capable contestant, he/ she is (and should be) exposed to reveal her true colours.
