Himesh Reshammiya's hit soundtrack Aashiq Banaya Aapne has two lifts in it also:

Dillagi, which is taken straight from Pakistani pop singer Ali Zafar's "Rangeen," from his 2003 album "Huqa Pani."
Marjaawan is a blatant lift from Fakhir's "Marjaawan" from his 2002 album "Aatish."
Oh yeah, Gela Gela (Aitraaz) was copied note for note from R. Kelly's Thoia Thoing from his 2003 album "Chocolate Factory."
HR is popular for lifting songs?????i heard of him copying but not this much....and ppl r thinking tht he is the best singer, music director....!!!!!

BUT YET HE IS NOT POPULAR FOR LIFTING SONGS ONCE PEOPLE REALISE THIS THEY WOULD COME TO KNOW HOW TALENTED HE ACTUALLY IS LIKE ANU MALIK 😆 😆 😆

Great comments above. Here are my thoughts on this topic.

Firstly, there is a difference between being inspired by vs. copying.
Usually such matters are decided by a judge under copyright law.

Secondly, there is nothihg wrong rag based compositions. Of course
there will be similiarities between two songs which are based on the same
rag but that does not mean that they are copies at all (e.g. Tere Liye from
VZ and Hum Hain Is Pal Yahan from Kisna- -both partially based on kafi I
beleive) In fact, it sould be so much better if composers would go back
to these ragas to enhance the quality of this music. ARR does this well
sometimes. But then again so does AM. AM and HR have also both had a
lot of sufi/quawalli influence as well. Others too.

For the past few weeks there has been a lot of discussion on how music
directors are constantly plagerizing but I would like to say that IMHO, I
don't think that most are conciously doing it all of the time. I just think
that there are a finite # of factors which influence a MD when he/she is
composing a song. The first is his own knowledge and exposure to
different kinds of music, the second is public taste and the third is the
demands of the filmmaker. So for example HR is a young guy in his early
30's so he has been exposed to a whole body of Hindi music (SDB, RDB,
LP, OP, etc...) not to mention western music and of course Pakistani and
Arabic music. So naturally, these influences will show up at various times
in his music. I think that sometimes a composer does not even realize
where his insporation is coming from when he is writing music. Not that I
am denying that there is plagerism but I don't think that it is as often as it
seems.

Now with the internet, it is easy for people to root these things out. But
in the old days when a song seemed heavily influenced by a genre, I don't
know if there was such protest. I know that a lot of Bengali composers
wer influenced by Tagore as well as baul music. Sometimes old Tamil
songs sounded like Salil chowdhury songs or maybe vice versa. I don't
know and I doubt others noticed.

I would love to know of a forum or see a topic discussing classical music
influence on Hindi film music.

Let me know if u find a forum which discusses classical music influence on hindi film music. You are right, Hum hain is pal yahan is Kafi. I wld love to join and discuss too...if not we can start one here in general discussions too.

Salil da's songs are mostly complicated as he blends 2 ragas and makes them sooo beautiful.

Yes, please do start a topic on classical music in this forum so that others
can join. As for Salil Chowdhury, he of course blended a lot of Western
and Indian influences. I don't quite remember the blended songs. In fact
except for O Sajana, I cannot think of many classically based songs of his.
Maybe I am just blanking out here. Not that I am not a huge fan. I love
his music and also his passion for music lyrics.

Please remind me of his classically based songs.
