^^ In this very Bollywood we have Shankar Mahad, Shreya, Alka, RFAK, Javed Ali, (not to forget Sunidhi) etc, all fo them are classically trained.

To be a long runner play back material sound grounding in Indian classical is a must.

Bollywood ke gaane is a mish mash of music from all across the world, inspired, plagairised, whatever.

Aaj kal ke composers bhi bade intelligent. they use different kinds of voices for different types of songs. singers ki bheed badd gayi hai. there has to be mututal co existance.

ab rahi baat fareed ki, bechara shayad usne filmi gaane sune hai ki nahi bhi apun ko nahi pata.

I am curious to know why he took part in SRGMP.

or was he spotted and asked by the creative team to take part?

are people like fareed, sniti, sugandha etc being used by the channel?

Zee channel is trying something funny and fishy this year and falling flat on their own face.😆

they want to show they are going to the old SRGM show while also wanting to cater to the masses via sms and average singing with average singers too. with the kind of mentors they have, wondering what they are trying to prove.

Kuch baat jami nahi.

SRGMP need to get their act together and straighten out their priorities.😆

anamika ji u r right. it is difficult for too much classical trained singers to sing bollywood song and in this srgmp 2010, zee has bought all classicial singers viz from top kamal, sugandha, sniti, ranjeet rajwada, so called abhilasha etc and now fareed. god knows what will happen if theme based singing is started???

ask the judge who said she is classical and versatile singer in yesterday episode??? and why she got 10/10 marks in todays episode when she was not in sur and her breath was loud and audible??

i don't know...if he was really wanting to quite or not, but i do think it's sometimes harder for people who are extremely classically trained to sing bollywood songs b/c their classical tone comes in. take for example sniti. she's an excellent singer, but in some songs her strong classical style comes in when it's not needed. even fareed is running into this problem.

Ali Sher naam galat rakha hai... chohaa rakhna chahiye.. poora sharir idhar udhar bikhar jatha hai uskey gaiki ke jaise...laghta hai uska awaaz uske sharir se stronger hai 😆

Fareed's script totally looked a drama by Zee to bring him into limelight.. Fareed looks too confident a person to be afraid of simple bollywood songs.. u all must be kidding me and him.. what a performance with Ranjeet .. awesome duo...

Hope Fareed kicks all with a rocking fultoo powerful classical song..

Speaking of bolly songs... if u listened to shreya ghoshal singing Bhor mai tori baat takat in Delhi-6... there are portions in song where she sang badly.. her voice is unable to maintain the power.. side effects of leaving riyaaz and concentrating on bolly songs + shows

^^ Yes I have heard Shreya's version many times of this Originally Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's song in raag Gurjari Todi.

One has to be a God in full flow (that is how he was described) to parallel him, rahi baat Shreya weakening here or there is accepted; days of Lata/Asha are gone.
