He has won prestigious national singing awards. Much more successful in singing than AR Rehman in fact. Though AR Rehman obviously has edge in composition.

Not really, Rehman is still a better singer too, and awards are not a measure of success, they just improve your image. It is how the audience percieves and recieves your efforts that matters.And at the era of bribery and corruption in India, even I would get an award if I throw in some money😆

If I was a musician I would want my work to live on. I would want people to appreciate my work, praise it, remember it. I could care less if people were grooving to it in clubs or if I topped the charts.

But everyone is not the same. We need music directors like Himesh too. There is the class then there is the mass. His music was for the mass. He did well, he made his money now no one appreciates him anymore.

There are few Himesh songs I really love. Afsana banake, tera mera milna, dil ke badle sanam, Dil ne jise apna kaha..There could be more 😳

"Himesh Reshammiya is elated over winning the Filmfare award for best playback singer, more so because he is the first Bollywood music director to win such an honour.

He won the coveted award for crooning the title track of "Aashiq Banaya Aapne".

"The award for the best playback singer is special because it's the first song that I recorded for a film. I don't think anyone else got an award for his first recorded song," Reshammiya told IANS in an interview.

Reshammiya is not interested in singing for other music directors but would make an exception for A.R. Rahamn any day.

"Only if A.R Rahman asks me. No one else! He is the No.1. And he did say in an interview that 'Aashiq banaya aapne' is his favourite track of the year."
