Agree with you fully. This is what I said in another thread ---

SRGMP should either select the best (by expert judges) or the most popular (with public voting in its true spirit). They are doing neither and that is where many of us are having complaints.

I am saying the public voting is not really selecting the most popular because multiple voting defeats the purpose (popular choice). If they allow only one vote per mobile phone number then it will give you an idea on who is getting most votes in true sense. With the current method, a contestant (or a mentor) can tell 100 of his/her relatives, 200 of his/her friends and 1000s of other well wishers to keep voting for him/her (or his contestant) day and night. Yes, it may not be practicle from time and money perspective but that is a real possiblity looking at the amount of money in prizes for contestant and reputation for mentor at stake. So the one who can muster maximun votes this way will be the one to come on the top. Neither his/her (or his contestants) overall talent, or the performance on a particular day or popularity would matter. But then what benefits Zee is sheer number of SMSs so why would they care if public voting isn't done in its true spirit. That is why they keep telling us repeatedly that we can vote to as many folks and as many times as we wish. And then keep showing some contestants loosing sleep over the fear of getting voted out to invoke our sympathy so we keep sending even more SMSs to keep our favorites in the contest.

With the current method, anyone can come out on the top on any day. (Remember in the second round Nihira and Rajeev both got almost same % votes -- now, now... where is Nihira and where is Rajeev, both in sheer talent and in popularity?) So I won't be surprized if contestants who are both better singers than others as well as the more popular than others are eliminated early. It won't matter to Zee as long as the SMSs keep flowing in.... 1 per mobile or 1,00,000 per mobile... all is fair....
---------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------

Now I understand, if one mentor take this seriously and if he think that couple of lakhs of rupees in SMS is nothing compared to his reputation, then he infact will hire bunch of folks and have them do SMSs day and night till their eyes turn red and fingers turn black and blue... I TRUELY believe this can happen or may be actually happening...

They want to make money by allowing multiple votes which really defeats the purpose of this show.
