When Sharib lost in the last round, Jatin said he will even sell his house to keep Sharib in Mumbai. Well how real is he?

Sometime back I read somewhere that his sister Sulakshana Pandit, the actress-singer of yester years had to sell her flat in Mumbai as she was not earning much and could not affort it. Sulakshana is the elder sister who, alongwith her mother, looked after her siblings when her father passed away early when J-L were much younger. She did a lot for her brothers but J-L, even when they were at the top and getting many assignmnets gave her only an occassional song. Here is what she had to say--

I looked after my brothers and sisters, I did whatever my mother asked me to do for them, no questions asked. But I'm not God, I'm just a human being. I've learnt that helping your family is fine but that you have to think of yourself and your last days too."

"I'd feel highly obliged if my brothers (composers Jatin-Lalit), Anu Malik or A R Rahman gave me a chance," she says softly. "My brothers feel I'm not big enough a name today. I agree that they needed to work with well- established singers like Kavitha and Alka when they were just starting out and needed to find a foothold in showbiz. But once they'd done that, they could have given me some songs to sing. Lataji is still going strong at 70-plus. I'm only 40-plus. If they'd helped me out, I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in today.

More details here

So do you think someone who did not even help his sister in bad time save her flat, will sell his own for Sharib??

When Swananda lost he again became emotional but said to her that she will get many opportunities when she go back to UK. He did not ask her to stay back and did not promise her a song. And now when Sharib lost he says he will even sell his house to keep Sharib in Mumbai. Well how real is he?

A very valid point Salil 👏. I read the same article where it was clearly mentioned that JL's elder sis Sulakshana Pandit was in a sorry state of affairs. Sulakshana was quite popular in her time & she used to playback in her own movies. Infact she had a very sweet voice & it is really sad to see an artist of her stature struggle to make ends meet.

Strange turnout indeed for a person who sacrificed her entire prime for her family's well-being. One can't expect an elder sibling of such noted musical stallwrts to resort to this! And I fail to fathom out the hue & cry regarding the fact that the JL duo are hitting their alltime low when that is totally incompatible with other plausible factors like them bagging the prestigious Yashraj banner for Kunal Kohli's "Fannah" an Aamir khan/Kajol starrer etc.

A couple of yrs ago we had a flavor of their mindblowing score in "Hum Tum"under the same banner. Considering the fact that they ruled over the industry for nearly a decade, one would think they dwell in the lap of luxury!

If am not mistaken, Ujjaini has also debuted in the Kunal Kohli movie....so my point is that their credibility is really at stake here when they state that they are left to nothing short of selling their own house to forbid Sharib from leaving Mumbai.

Uh, guys? Is this topic really any of our business? Keep in mind media can alter words to make it sound like something is going on when actually something else is. We don't know enough to judge, and therefore extremely personal matters like this should be kept what they are--extremely personal...

Yes I agree with you. We don't know what the actual truth is. Media can say anything. So better not to believe this.

I take it this way...they were 1 set of music directors and now we have 2 seperate.
So...its a double treat that we look forward to now. 😃

Nice theory, if your brain is split into two, you will be twice more intelligent.😆

JL were very successful music directors but I also noticed that they never gave a chance to their sister Sulakshna Pandit who was a competent singer. Her first song perhaps was Beqarar dil too gaye jaa with Kishore Kumar
