Friends,

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the show where singers found new grounds to showcase their talents, has now ended being a reality show, which I really don't mind. I think it's pretty cool having a musical reality show, as it makes things really interesting. However, within the last month, the show has begun to make it more performance oriented instead of singing quality oriented. That ONE performance round in the 3rd charan was nice, but having everything else follow become performance is not what Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the first five pure sounds of nature, is about. During the Brahmastra round, Joyeeta's sur was going off track, but how can that be "bahut sur mein gaati ho?" Ujjaini's Gila Gila song had many besur and apaswara points in the song, although she sang her song much better than Joyeeta's.

Public voting was nice for Brahmastra, but it should be left to that. For those who made it to the Agni Pariksha, it is no ordinary thing. In a phase that could either make it or break it for them, leaving such an important decision of eliminating a singer to the public is not wise. The same public voted for Qazi, who has been in the danger zone for how many times!!

If Sa Re Ga Ma Pa hit this level of performance over singing and public over trained and knowledgable judges, I FEAR on what will happen after C2005 is over. I fear that the show I used to enjoy and actually LEARN something from, will be a show that I can care less about.

I agree with you. SRGMP was always a show which took into account only singing. But this time it is becomming too much performance oriented.

I also agree that maybe if this thing follows then many song lovers may stop watching the show. Atleast the way diligently they used to watch without missing out a single episode will be gone.

I agree with you guys, and miss those days when this show was about singing and singing only. There was some kind of purity about it. Now it's beginning to look more and more flashy and diluted. SRGMP has everything to lose if the standards drop.

I think the judging should be left to the experts. The public should just sit back and enjoy.

Left to public, they will do the best what they can. It may not reflect the truly best since most of these votes are impulsive and not voted after thinking from all perspectives.

But hey, SRGMP is a show to make money. Zee TV is not in charity business nor the film industry which will get these singers is in charity business. I agree with ID when he said "Jo deekhta hai wo bikta hai". So what people like that is what is right!

So Zee TV found it right time to change the gears and start making money as they must have figured out that by doing so they will get more audience and that multiplies in terms of revenue generation.

So let them do what they like, let people select new winners and only time will say that their decison is right or wrong.

My slogan is "jisme dum hoga wo lambi race daudega".

I love the way you've put it, Kishore_Bhakta!!! I completely agree.

I think Saregama has always maintained a class in itself...all the singers who win here are always taken very seriously. However, with the glamour quotient introduced, and singing taking a back seat, not sure if after this show ends SRGMP "Products" will be taken seroiusly. The show might lose it's reputation.

I know the Zee people have to compete with the runaway success of the Sony shows....but I too feel that Sa Re Ga Ma Pa would have done well to stay away from this "public vote" strategy....

Even I am a part of this Indian public but I cant help hide my face when I see again n again this public goin for looks or sympathy votes instead of real singing talent....

It would have been so great if Sa Re Ga Ma had stuck to its own rich tradition....I can just visualise a panel of 6 or 7 eminent judges(besides the mentors)judging these talents....like the Grand Finals Sa Re Ga Ma used to have....the contestants as well as the viewers would have been able to learn n take something away from the show.

But now it's just a lottery!!!Lets c who wins!!
