There is definately no comparision between who is better than who, however what is your personal preferance when listening to a sad song....male version or female version?
I have always felt that male version of sad songs have deeply touched me more than female version.
The song from movie Jaane tu Ya Jaane na (Jaane tu meri kya hai), I love sukhwinder's version, that song brings chill to my body.
Even in contests, My absoulte favourites have mostly been male singers!
In C2005 it was Hemachandra, followed by Nihira and Himani
In C2007 it was Raja Hasan, followed by Sumedha
in Lil Champs 2007 it was Aamir Hafiz and Rohit Shyam Rao
in C2009 it was Zaheer Abbas, followed by Naina Saxena & Vaishali
In Lil Champs 2009 it's Yashodhan, followed by Priyanka and Sheryasi

Sad songs do sound better in male voices to me too. But that might be because, when we think sad, we think low...kind of. Idk...but lower sounds remind me of sad, and the males have the lower voices. But I think you're talking a little bit more sufi. I've liked the same as you in that department: Raja, Aamir, and Priyanka. Actually, from last year for sad songs I kind of like Soumen...remember Sayiaan...mind blowing performance. Manisha was good too.

i'm a boy preferring both 😆
female voices i think have the more calm-soothing effect [Zara zara, behkta hai hai] [only example i can think of at the top of my head]
male voices have the depth...like you can feel the feeling or sumting...they're more convincing in a sense

Tere Liye [Veer Zara] can also be another example

Female: calm-soothing
Male: more power, yet fragile, as soothing as female
female: more higher-note strength
male: more lower-note strength
but maybe this applies to only that specific song

then we get
Ab to aadat si
male high notes - gives the feeling of "pain"

i have no idea what i just said 😆

well I'm a girl Minty but a bit of a feminist
I like both male and female voices
can't choose male voices only- they sound similiar after some time
actually i prefer girls winning in reality shows and I mostly support girls as I think its symbolic and prsensts a good message for Indian society which is still patriarchal
So I have supported:
Challege 2005: Nihira, then Hemu
VOI 1: Abhas as he was the best
Challenge 2007: all top 5 were good
VOI 2: Ritisha, then Vipul/Malhar
Challenge 2009: Shashi as he's a genius, also Naina and Mitika
Little champs and chote sutaad; the winners who won!!
Little chamsp 2009: Shreyasi n Yatharth
