I think for Zee it is much easier (& economical) to get celebrities who are past their career peak. Thus, people like Alka Yadnik and Abhijit would be cheaper to have as judges than they would have been some 5 years ago. Same applies to Suresh Wadkar, Jatin, Usha Uthup, Jagjit Singh etc who are not so active in their careers and are possibly readily available as celebrity judges. It is a win-win situation for both. Zee gets respectable artists on their programs and these semi-retired artists can earn some money!

I despise Abhijeet. I would not bring my kid to participate no matter how good if I knew Abhijeet would be the judge. He is beyond horrible.
