Someone had given me a set of 10 cassettes. The beauty of that set was each cassettehad one Raaga sung in its original form, then played on an instrument like a sitar or sarod or violin etc, and then a ghazal based on that raaga and finally a film song based on the same raaga. That set is a wonderful teacher. Unfortunately the producer of that set did not make any more to cover additional raagas. So I can identify 10 raagas even in my sleep, but am a total duffer when it comes to others. 😃 😭😭

btw - bunbutt_too ji, there is not much to comment on what you say because you give us knowledge (not necessarily of music every time , about other things too !) , but i'd like to mention that what you post is a pleasure to know , so don't let "lack of comments" bother you ever😊

Everyone here is into new songs so when I get a chance I take pleasure in posting video after video of some of the beautiful old music hoping that the younger generation starts liking them as well. I love Raaga Miya Ki Malhar and most of the good songs on rain are composed in this raaga or its variation.
