When I look at the lyrics the song automatically starts and I can hear RFAK's voice so clearly.

Some members were discussing why the words noor, roshni were used when they meant the

same thing. But I guess the effect each word gives is different.

For a Ghazal singer Rahat has such a sweet voice and I posted a song sung by Krishna and Rahat

Main Jahan Rahoon --- one of my all-time favorites. I know you also love RFAK's O Re Piya.
I remember that topic discussing they lyrics of the song, but noor and roshni are used in different contexts. Although they have the same meaning, they give different aspects of the same object. I don't know, I just love those lyrics, I feel they are the most unique set of words we've had in recent times.

I admit that the "ghoonghat hi bana lo roshni se noor ke" is a little confusing. The more metaphorical meaning tells us that to make a veil of light from the moonlight's thread. However, looking at it more literally, the meaning seems that he is asking you to make a "ghoonghat" of "noor" from "roshni", which is repetitive. But perhaps he is differentiating between the light that is cast by love and the moon's light.

However, I feel that such lyrics should not be taken from their literal meaning. There is a bigger meaning that we should look at in order to understand the purpose of the song.

WA yes some even suggested that one referred to moonlight and another to the sunlight. Anyway it is a very beautifully balanced piece of wordings. I believe "noor" is Urdu and roshani Hindi . I am not sure.

Yes you are right Summer ji. Noor is Urdu for light, whereas roshni is Hindi for light. I tried to Google if there were a different meaning to either of these words, but they are both defined as meaning "light" and used interchangeably.
