In parties? Well, yeah ... if you're going to talk about dancing, then it requires faster beats.
But think about this --- how many people at parties are actually listening to the song. The words can barely be heard, its the loud blaring of music through speakers that gets people to dance. But still, its not the true form of music. Agreed there?

yeah i agree with you, which goes on to show how this generation only cares about fast beats, not the melodious songs. the classical and old songs used to be made for enjoyment but nowadays it's these pop punjabi bhangra songs that gives us the enjoyment even if they are not true form of music even though they are composed by top bolluwwod composers

Well, I'm a part of this new generation --- but I'll say that although the melodious songs are preferred, but these bhangda songs are also required for this day and age. But the golden era of music is long gone.

i like the song desi girl as well and do you like maa da laadlla?

see what i am trying to say is that these songs like desi girl, when we listen to them it makes us get up from our seats and dance or sing along. and if you understand punjabi or are punjabi, then it is even more better becuase you get so well connected to the song you start doing Bhangra😆Balle Balle!!!

Actually badly composed Punjabi songs don't give any enjoyment..they are bore and only appeal to rural crowd, whose only taste is limited to Punjabi songs. For sophosicated or urban Indians, Punjabi songs by Nurat or good singers with good tunes are fun. The "Gauri dai Nakharai" kind of songs hurt ears and are horrible..Kadai POOO is horrible and totally meaningless nonsense. Whereas "Kauva Kauva" is and example of great Punjabi song.
Raabi is very good upcoming Punjabi singer.

the thing is that punjabi songs have become so popular these days that every producer want's it in their films, and in the making they end up choosing not so well composed compositions. but if you look overall, they are sucessful, like mauja mauja, people have performed on it on every show i think, and i don't think those were rural people

Now instead of arguing which genre is better or worthwhile, lets discuss something more relevant to SRGMP.

Why is it that every time somebody sings a high energy Bhangda song (ie Mast Kalandar, Mauja hi Mauja, etc. ) in SRGMP, the audience goes ballistic, along with the judges --- who feel that the song should be performed again and feel the need to come on stage and dance. In the end, the contestant gets a history from all judges. They completely ignore the fact that this song didn't have much scope and its the energy that gets them carried away. On the other hand, when someone sings a nice melodious song, the judges are extremely critical and the praise isn't given to that contestant. With this drama, some contestants continuously sing high energy songs and gain popularity whereas those who are singing actual proper forms of music are left behind in the idiotic public voting system.

Now, what do you have to say about that?

ye i know the the adiences as well as the judges get carried away by the energy in the show. but sometimes they do criticize, and plus i don't think that any contestant can get through the competition by just singing high energy songs.
Punjabi songs are not easy to sing, you have to get the accent right, plus it is very easy to get carried away by the energy that sometimes you forget the surs.
this is how you spell bhangra, thanks, i was just noticing that you spelled it wrong
