Asma is singing since her childhood on public stages. She along with her father and uncle are very famous for singing Hindi songs at various shows. Strange that her mother didn't have a problem then and now all of a sudden she stopped supporting? This is just a publicity stunt pulled by her father. It was so evident that whatever she spoke was memorized.

Another thing is her father reminds me of those typical parent who try to live their dreams through their children. He couldn't succeed in India so now he wants to settle down in Mumbai with his daughter and make a name through her.

you don't just divorce your wife over matters like that. Her mom has as much say on her as he does. Isn't she underaged? I don't know about the laws in Oman but he can't just pack up the kids and take them overseas without the consent of the mother

The dad seems selfish to me if this story is true!

I will just say if my mom have said to me not to sing , I have done it. Because mom is greatest gift god has given us. She scarifies so much for her children why cant their kids do them just for once. I dont like Asma, I even dont dislike her. But my mom likes her. When she was watching yesterdy SRGMP she was really upset.

I hope eventually all is sorted out at the end between Asma, her mom and dad. Asma's mom should not take such a hard stance. There is nothing wrong in what Asma is doing.

I was keeping my mouth shut on this issue the reason being every one is so sympathetic with her on this issue and to me this is their personal affair and she should not go public and what kind of a girl is Asma that she is bitching about her mother - personally I would never do any thing against my mother's will.

I, personally, do not buy this "sacrifice" and the resulting "indebtedness" arguments at all. What parents do is their duty and most parents do it out of love for their children. Similarly, let children do what ever they want to do for their parents out of love and respect for them - not out of "indebtedness". One makes this whole concept of parenting sound cheap when one starts talking about "kurbani" and "balidaans". Ultimately, it should be the child's choice what they want to do with their lives (provided it's not something anti-social or criminal). Therefore, I do not agree with those who are criticizing Asma for "going against her maa's will".

That said; I really don't think the reality is what was told to us. Asma has been learning music and singing for a long time now. If her mother had issues with her singing on public plateforms, she would not have waited this long. I feel all this drama was created for TRPs. Who knows, may be not many voted for her despite the cute hindi dialogubazi with the guests etc. The story doesn't ring true to me. Something fishy is going on with her parents. I refuse to believe they got divorced because of SRGMP.
