People here make fun of him but dont realise how popular he is with the masses. Our country India is governed by the middle class and lower middle class groups, which seek entertainment.
Entertainment is what HR has provided to them. They dont see if the song is nasal or in sur or what raag etc. They just know that when they play it, they dance or feel happy or atleast feel some kind of emotion. Thats all they need.
Whats the harm to bring a cheer to these people after all they toil the hardest and deserve it. It is with their blessings that he has made his destiny.
I dont agree with HR when he keeps refering to his haters as 1% because thats not and i have told him that. It is more like 20% which dont like him but then there are 40-60% who love him. Once he realises this, he will be at peace with himself. He has this tendency of pleasing all which is not possible.

Well 1 % people think himesh is bad composer. 10 % to 15 % think he is bad singer. Well its too earrly to tell about his acting skills but I am sure if he works harder he will make big as an actor.

The best example of this is Kishore Kumar - he was also a singer / music director and actor. The only one who was successful at it.
(HR still has to prove himself as an actor).
Sonu Nigam tried his best to be a hero with his chocolate boy looks, even his videos like Deewana / Bijuria / Tuu (Bipasha) etc etc were damn hot and I remember girls swooning over him.
I feel if he had put even half the effort which HR has put in and planned his moves well, he had it in him to make a successful actor. He had the fans / he even had the looks and was a great dancer.
He should have adopted the same policy, that he will only sing for himself (for sometime to develop USP) and also chosen better films than Love in Nepal & Naagin etc and also promoted himself in the right manner. I love Sonu and still feel he should give it a second shot.

No Vijay, its not correct. There are a large number who dont like his compositions and find them repetitive. Infact even AR Rehman cant say that he has only 1% detractors. Coz there are many (including me) who are critical of some of his recent compositions (very few although). To say 1% is trying to project a wrong figure, infact he is telling that to himself in his mind because of his please all nature.
He should just accept that the Majority people like his music and his singing and that majority can be 99% or 51%, that does not matter till there are more people who like his music / singing than the ones which hate it or dislike it. He will be at peace with himself and less hyper. He goes over board in trying to please all.

There must be atleast one song which is favourite song composed by himesh among his crticis. If people like atleast one song which is composed by himesh that means they know that himesh as a good composer. Whether himesh is better than ARR or not that is another matter.

I like HR, the composer. I can't stand HR the singer. I have never watched any of his movies so I can't comment on HR, the actor.
I find him a big show off. He comes across as someone who is full of himself but trying desperately to come across as down to earth. He ends up making a mockery of himself with this dilemma he has.
There is something about him that gets on the nerves big time. Hard to pinpoint what exactly it is but I can't stand him. But I would give it to him for being one heck of a lucky guy and hard working too.
No one can deny that he is successful. Doesn't really matter what percentage of people like him as they are enough to make him a celebrity. He should stop worrying about those who mock him or do not like him. He'll be at peace then and who knows - may end up giving us great music like Banaras and Tere Naam once again😊

A proper serious movie or drama should be able to stand without much songs etc to pep it up. It also needs good serious actors and actresses, and good story line. Himeshji's movie does not fall in this catergory currently. Anyway I find such movies boring but several ladies love such movies.
As for Himeshji's music it appeals to the young. Generally older people and those wanting serious music will have problems with it. As for me it is great. Well to each his own as I am much more open and spend a lot of time listening to Chinese and Japanes music too.

Minor correction - Not younger but taporis will enjoy it.

well said, I guess I don't put enough effort thinking whats good about HR. I have only seen him on the show and he is a big turn off for me. Shows off his body thinking he is Salman or what? Look at his hair, and the way he talks, he definitely inspires lots of taporis.
Deep down he knows what he is, he is so full of ****

One must understand a few things:
In today's world it is easy to become a celebrity. Just act in some B-grade TV serial and you will already be discussed in some online forum and soon you will be doing shows, inauguration of boutiques and being declared a celebrity by 20-somethings. Coming to hard work - let me assure you, just about everyone in the industry is working hard, though just a few get paid obscene amounts of money. Let us not single out Himesh for doing some extraordinary hard work. Yes, he is good in projecting how hard he works. I haven't seen Shankar Mahadevan making a song and drama about his hard work. Often I see people declaring that the very fact we are discussing Himesh in various threads establishes that he is great, adored and a genius. Well, the whole world is talking about the financial crisis, terrorism, super-bugs, global warming and other unwanted phenomenon. Does it mean we adore all these things? Let us just stop the nonsensical theory that liking Himesh's mediocre music is a sign of how young and modern you are! This is such an idiotic argument and I have seen older people declaring they like Himesh simply because they want to be perceived as young! Just putting some fancy beats into some sufi/bhangra tune and screaming one's head off and then mixing all the sounds to make it sound like some dehumanized machine with a muffled voice does not indicate that it is modern music. Let us distinguish between timeless music which will adorn history and mediocre music which is being elevated to history because of hype.
  • Why is clever marketing and sales of music being taken as a sign that the music itself is good? In today's world, extensive and relentless marketing gimmickry will ensure that first-day sales itself will recover all the money. Does this indicate that the film or music is a work of genius?

We cannot take Himeshji seriously as he is there as only another entertainer.
Turn off is something natural just as others get turned on. I have always wondered if it is a chemical thing between humans. Will ask the Royal Dept to investigate.😆
