After another few rounds we will get the winner.
So, how has the journey been so far? Has it left any impression on anyone's mind? In this newsletter we will recap the musical journey of those involved in the show - the mentors, the participants, the coordination team and offcourse the public....
Presenting......
The IF SRGMP,Part 3 - The Journey : A Recap!!!

In this contest, we get to hear only the final version of a song when it is submitted for each round. But in reality the mentors spend a lot of their valuable time with the participants, mentoring them and guiding them to scale new heights and get the scales right. It is natural that they will have some special moments tied up with the show. Let's find out....

Q. How has the IF SRGMP show journey been for the mentors so far? Have they enjoyed it, have they felt like running away or are they happy . Lets find out from them...

Priya.Nair
,the mentor of Jhankaar Gharana says that this show has been a great learning experience for her .Through this show she got to hear some good music and has met some very talented contestants.
Bhaskar.T, the mentor ofSur Sangam Gharana thinks it has been a nice experience . The late submissions of his contestants surely gave him some heart attacks but in the end, it was a total musical treat.
Amukta the Alaap Gharana mentor and Megha25, the ex-mentor of Bandish Gharana voiced the same opinion- that they both were initially nervous, but once they got into the groove of mentoring, their nervousness disappeared and since then they have enjoyed every minute of it!

Q. Any memorable experience of the series that the mentors would like to share with all ?

Amukta
says her selection as the mentor was her most memorable experience. The chills of the daunting task, the thrills of exploring music, the challenge of the responsibility of mentoring was quite overwhelming but this journey is something that she will always cherish.
Priya.Nair says that her most memorable experience was one of her contestants evilseye's reaction when she came to know that she had scored a good rank . The excitement and exuberance that Sur(evilseye) felt reverberated right through her PM to Priya and Priya could literally visualize her jumping up and down in joy !
Bhaskar's most memorable incident was that for one episode he had to write down the lyrics of a song for Jhankaar gharana contestant - rock& roll. The lyrics had a lot of rajasthani words and was definitely a tough task. By the time Bhaskar was done with it, he had actually memorized the lyrics by heart of this unknown song!!
Megha's memorable incident was the pleasant surprise that she got when she saw her gharana participant minirulz submit a good version of the song at the last minute in round5.Mini was suffering from a cold, and they had decided to submit a practice version of the song, but when on the day of the submission Megha saw that Mini submitted a much improved version having recovered from the cold, Megha was simply thrilled.

Q. What message do the mentors want to give all the contestants ?

Amukta
advises - "Please put your heart and soul into the song you sing and despite the knowledge or mastery it is the feel with which u sing matters as all of you are good singers otherwise you will not be in this srgmp contest. Good luck and God bless" !!
Priya Nair says: "Wow all of you are so talented that I am having a blast listening to such wonderful music. Great Job guys and hope that success comes your way . Good Luck!"

Bhaskar.T shares:"I follow a path always and would ask you all also follow the same not just in this contest but in every sphere of life. "Whoever said its not whether you win or loose that counts, has already lost".

👏Spoken like true mentors !!! 👏

Now that we have tormented the mentors enough, lets find out what our participants have to say. They not only have to face the mentors, but they have to also face the members critical reviews and off course the judges ratings too, not to mention the responsibilities of the real life chores!!. How have they coped with the pressure?Have they enjoyed at all ? Do they have any memorable moments- let's find out the details ...
Q. What has been your experience in the show so far?
All the participants unanimously voiced that the show has been a wonderful journey and a great learning experience for them. They not only met some talented singers and made some great friends, but they have learnt a lot about music from their mentors and others and all of them are happy that they decided to participate. Most feel their singing has improved with all the practice.
Q. What would be one memorable moment from the contest ?
Rock&roll (Jhankar Gharana)- "After listening to my submission for Round 5,Summer3had remarked in the feedback thread that I had sung the tamil song better than the original. Even though I knew summerji was very generous with his compliment, I was truly touched!!
Kiti_g (Sur Sangam Gharana) - "It was during the 4th Round. I was not able to send my song (recorded at the last minute!!) as there was some virus on my laptop and it wouldn't let me connect to the net! It was the last day (it was a Saturday) and I was going crazy and everyone at home was equally bugged with me .Then somehow I managed to get to my mom's place and sent the song only to be told that we had got a 2 day extension!! My hubby was so damn irritated and he almost ordered me out of the contest ... but this very incident occurred again during the 5th round and this time I did not drive anyone crazy as thankfully it was not a holiday and so could keep it to myself!!!
Minirulz (Bandish Gharana) - "One memorable moment was when I was least expecting it I got the second rank!!"
Naughty_n_nice (Sur Sangam Gharana) - "In the 1st round, where we had to sing song of our choice Bhaskar bro had asked me to try Alisha Chinai's ,Made in India. For some reason, it just sounded pathetic when I sung it, even worse than my normal singing .I kept practicing on it everywhere and people were wondering why I had this obsession for the song! And at the same time, it was so bad, bro kept making me record it again and again !!! Then finally I changed to Paheli zindagani. Thank God !!!
Kalpa56 (Jhankaar Gharana) - "My daughter, waving the music sheet in front of me, reminding me of the submission deadlines is definitely one of my memorable moments !!"
Mala_sss (Sur Sangam Gharana)- "I think my most memorable moment of the contest was when I got to know that I hadgot the first rank in the Sufi round. It was a great moment for me!"
Lava26 (Alaap Gharana)- "I don't have any special memorable moments as such. I think the whole contest has been memorable."
Coollama ( Bandish Gharana) - "One particular memorable moment for me has been the "Private Album Songs" round . I was clueless as to what to sing in the beginning, and being a Sufi song fanatic I zeroed down to Kailash Kher's ,Teri Diwani. It was a difficult song but I felt I would be able to pull it off. I felt I managed to do fairly good job. I am saying this as the response to this song has been a good one; I received many constructive feedback and loads of congratulations mails!"

Q. What do you have to say about your gharana mentor and team members?
Minirulz - "Megha has a very keen sense of music which is just not theoretical but is practical as well. She really tried to get the best out of me. Regarding members I have not had too much interaction except with Rabia who has a lovely voice. I have interacted with Coollama(nik) a couple of times. I think he sang teri deewani really well".
Mala_sss - "A big big big thanx to our mentor Bhaskar.T !! He is a great help- a very caring and responsible mentor! My favorite amongst all participants happens to be my team member- Kiti_g. Together we can say- SUR SANGAM KA HAI MILAN - HILA DENGE SABKO YAHAN HUM !!!"
Kalpa56- "Priya Nair as a mentor is very motivating, supportive, and has a very positive attitude. Regarding team members - well I'm sure they have been in the same boat as me numerous times when it came to deadlines etc, so I appreciate their hard-work into making sure our Gharana stays on the top!"
Naughty_n-nice- "I have had the most amazing mentor (Bhaskar.T), Id say... And it really shows, considering how well his gharana members are doing, and how far he brought someone as inexperienced as me! As for my team-mates, they're tooo great! Kiti_g is a complete darling! She was a like an extra mentor, and she kept suggesting songs and stuff for me, it was really sweet! Mala and aseel too, were great team-mates... I really got into the SRGMP mood coz of them! I ended up making signatures for us to use n stuff!"
Coollama- "My mentor(s) ,they all have been wonderful to me. They have worked really hard from the song selection to get the right recording go to the competition. (we at times have done 3 to 4 recordings of different songs for a single round!!)Speaking about my team members, all the contestants have been wonderful.I am impressed at the improvement Rabia has made since the last series. It's just amazing!!!"

Q. Which round has been your favorite?
Lava26 : Fast Beat Indipop /Private Album songs (Round 3).
Minirulz : All rounds except Round 3.
Mala_sss: The Sufi songs round (Round 4).
Naughty_n_nice: The Fast IBeat ndipop /Private Album songs and the Romantic songs from the Golden Era (Round 2)

Coollama - Mini's "Pari Hoon Main" ( Round 3) and Arun's "Main Kahi Kavi Na Ban Jaayu" (Round2).

👏The contestants have been amazing so far. The sincerity and the dedication that they have shown is indeed worth appreciation - Hats off to them... 👏

In this musical contest there is no public voting but IF public plays a very important role! They give their valued feedbacks (sometimes quite critical ones even!!) after every round. They not only boost the morale of the participants but at times in their own unique and critical ways they guide in the contestants to improve further. The journey won't be complete without knowing the public opinion
. So what di they have to say ?
Q. What have you enjoyed the most in the contest so far ?
Summer3 -"Kiti's Marathi song from Round 5 was enjoyable to listen to eventhough I could not understand the language. She really nailed it. Till Round 5, I did know my buddy Rock n Roll was a Tamil expert. She sang the Round 5 song so well. Funny was the way Naani(Dia) described the regional songs as gibberish and questioned the need for such rounds. Round 6 Bhakti Sangeet songs were very hard to judge as all of them did well and some even sang the Arati "Om Jai Jagadish Hare.." That was cute. I have enjoyed whatever I have heard till now."
2smart4u (Dia) - "I think the contestants that have made this far are very talented and deserve to be where they are, after all their hard work. This year's IF SRGMP was very entertaining as lots of people had participated. I enjoyed every episode of this series....wait i should correct that...ii enjoyed every episode that I LISTENED to this year.I enjoyed the Regional language round a lot!!! mostly because I didn't understand it, so all I had to do was praise everyone. I didn't have to feel bad about anyone getting hurt with my critical comments nor did they have to go through such harsh comments. So me being me, loved that round
👏Seems like the Regional songs round was surely the public's favoirite round ! The feedbacks in the feedback thread definitely were interesting !! 👏

Lastly but definitely not the least is the response of the coordinating committee- the creative brains , heads and hands who leave no stone unturned to make sure the show goes on smoothly. From drawing out the contest framework - the rules, the rounds, to running around/chasing around , facing the hiccups or combating the hurdles, till handing out the winner 's trophy this group has their fingers in every single aspect of the contest. Let's find out how the journey has been for the show string pullers...
Q. Please recap your experience in this show in a nutshell.
Barnali (di): "What do I tell about this series. It has now become a part and parcel of my daily life. The running around to find the songs or the lyrics, or to offer suggestions to those who approach , the feedbacks or to combat the crazy situations that keep popping up every now and then, its truly been an expereince !!! If we could clock the amount we run around trying to meet the challenges, I am sure between the contestants, mentors, judges and us, we can beat the record of any marathon runner !!! I have enjoyed every minute of this RACE and it has truly been a pleasure listening to so many talented singers. I am thankful to all the judges, mentors, the contestants, fellow coordinator Anu and my entire team who have risen to every challenge put in front of them and have excelled .Thanks all of you and I wish you all the very best. May the best one win ! God Bless !"
Anuradha - "It has been a great experience of being a Coordinator.. This time we had lots of ups and downs in the contest, yet we were able to pull it off very well. This would not have been possible without the support of mentors, judges and contestants. So, thanks to them for everything. Last time I was not that active even though I was part of the coordinating team. But this time I have been actively taking part in the contest and coordinating with the mentors and contestants. For me, music is life and listening to so many songs, giving feedbacks has been thoroughly enjoyable. In this short span of time, I have come to know many people and it has thoroughly been a wonderful journey. Every moment in this journey has been memorable and I hope to continue the journey with many more memorable moments".

It has indeed been a very absorbing journey and like everyone said, it has truly been a learning experience for me too and have enjoyed being a part of this incredible show. The ups and downs the highs and lows, the hits and misses have made the entire lot stronger and have brought out the best from each and everyone associated with the contest. In the collection of IF memories, this series will definitely be a nostalgic chapter.

Dear members, by now you must have got a fairly good idea of what the contest is about ,how talented and hard working our friends are. They are doing their part with full sincerity, now it is the listeners turn to do something. A show of this nature is a very unique experience for a virtual world. Who knows some more talents amidst us gets inspired to try out his or her luck in the next one ? Many of you might feel that if you give feedback the contestants might get hurt or offended if you give suggestions to improve. You are totally wrong there. The participants really look forward to your comments. Those help them improve more and motivates them to perform better.

In this series, there are still some rounds left. Please come forward to boost the morale of the contestants with your valued feedback and promote the show around India Forums! Become a part of this amazing IF SRGMP contest and create some wonderful memories for yourself as well...
