I only know of two movies of ID which had good music - HDDCS and Devdas both were with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So may be he is as talented as the director.

ID is one of my favorite music composers. But the reason as to why he is out of work is simply because Bollywood is catering to the younger generation. Most films are romantic comedies or other light hearted ventures. Pritam, Vishal Shekar, SEL, HR have work because their music is directed to the younger generation as per the demand of our current flicks.

The Indian film industry is in desperate need of more serious cinema in my opinion Sarkar Raj doesn't cut the cake, so to speak.

Quite right. Ismaiji is for Big Budget Classic Movies. He has left an indelible footprint in the movie and music industry.
Fair enough he said cetain unsavory things, but it is very common among musicians and artistes to say certain things in a fit of emotion and anger. These are often amplified by the journalists.
I remember Himeshji asked hiim to sing some songs too. I expect him to be back in Zee again.

Big ego, big head and not being PC is our wonderful MD ID. He is genius when it comes to creating music but when it comes to being mentor-coach-judge and human being with sophistication is Zero.
Many have admired his style of mentorship which I have questioned at times. One positive thing abt his mentorship is he pushes his pupils to take hardest songs. Might be the best thing in their personal growth as a singer but for the contest it might work against and gets them eliminated. One must learn to play the game of Indian reality show or else best ones end up getting eliminated and mediocre ends up winning.
On VOI ID is a clown along with Mr. Attack. ID was Mr. Akraman of C-05 and now MS is Mr. Attack of VOI 😛
I loved ID as first judge on WP. he was really good.

Tadap tadap ke : what an ideal choice of singer: KK, can you believe KK is not classicaly trained in fact he was a singer in a rock band and above that he is from Kerala but his ucchharan is very good (thanks to Delhi).

Just a trivia: It was Kunal G who recommended ID to Sanjay Leela for HDDCS.

Earlier i posted the topic regarding most underrated singer and most of the people do beleive that KK is most underrated. He perfectly blend his voice in Tadap tadap without having classical background, Thats why i have always posted the view that without classical training to one can excel in music industry. While Ismail is still in news without job and KK is nowhere to be seen in media having so many hit songs.

Answer: Rozi roti bhagwaan ke haath hoti kab kaon jobless ho jaaye kis reason se kisi ko pata nahin... sometimes you get fired, sometimes health reason... many thing play to decide your fate..

IMHO singers and musicians (composers) can't be compared, usually composers last longer than former unless there is a specific reason like change of film style, general change in taste of audience etc.
SIngers : once they pass prime become dormant like Alka, Kumar Sanu and others the exceptions are the singers from goldel era because all were number 1 and irreplacable.
@ Jatin-Lalit jobless: because the brothers have separated and individually they are not equal to the JL banner, at least this is what producers/directors think, plus it seems their creative side was not at its best when they separated but it happens with every musician in life. This is one of the reason why they took to small plagiarism in 1998 onwards (actually this is the time which matches with onset of tumultous personal life, it is said that musician must get inspiration and this starts right at home where day to day quarrel haD started between them.
Lalit still got one or two movies but not Jatin. You will be surprised to know that reason behind their separation is completely financial. What a loss...!!

@Anu Malik: His persistence actually should be discussed in one of the threads, he never has been out of work completely even in days when he was rising and Pancham was failing he spotted R D Burman at house of Vidhu Vinod CHopra where Pancham had gone to make sure he gets work in movie 1942 love story.
Anu Malik has persisted despite average music at times lifted music at times and shades of brilliant music, he never has been out of job completely.
@ Aadesh: when he started getting work he had passed his prime, most of the creatie ouput of a musician is given when he is young. Plus he has never got work from a big banner except once or twice (like Madan Mohan they were great but nearly always got grade B movies), his initial output like aao pyar kare, Shastra etc lacked tunes turning away the producers.
@ Bappi Lahiri came in disco mode and was successful as long as this music lasted still he got some work in 90s.

Rafi da will take a separate post.

ID is a very carefree person. During c2007 he said something I cannot remember but I remember this much that if worst come to worst he will go back to his band and play violin/guitar whatever he played.
Does anybody know what happened to the movie MAHANAGAR in which ID is giving music. I am interested to listen Amanat Ali's three songs in that movie. That movie supposed to be released couple of months ago but I do not hear about it in the filmy news.
Zahida interviewed ID in which ID says that singing songs as planned with Himeshji was cancelled. He does not think he is capable of singing so he wont be singing or planning to launch an album.
