As far as getting golden key for ID performance, I felt Anuradha (not sure about the name. The girl who sang Vande Mataram) was far better than Sara....just my opinion here😊

You are quite sharp. Yes Anupama sang the song very well. She is underrated but I found that she has a lot of substance. Naina Saxena is still the best among the ladies, but public voting is expected to be crazy and there will be much injustice.

Aisa des hai mera was nothing extraordainary and what she did along with singing was horrible, I felt as if someone is singing in vengeance, it has left horrible impression about her.

Here Himani has rendered the song "Aisa Desh hai mera" very well in a more gentle style.

Summer, first of all, thank you so very much for starting that thread on Anupama.
I listened to the songs you uploaded there again and then compared Sara's aisa des hai mera with Anupama's Vande Matarm. Frankly speaking, Sara's singing is fit for jingles NOT playback. Aisa des hai mera is nothing compared to Anupama's Vande Matarm complexity wise and rendition wise.
The maturity level and taiyyari in Anupama's voice while rendering such a tough song is amazing. Her voice is crystal clear and sweet. Sara's has a touch of nasalness and then the "cuteness" that she desperately tries to put in there end sup making the song sub-standard. But yes, Sara will do a good job of singing the jingles like this one.....
kya rangeen jawani thhee,
ik raja thha ik rani thhi,
raja rani pakdey jatey,
jab roshni deta bajaj....
If you remember this jingle, you'll see the voice sounds a lot like Sara Khan. She has degressed big time.
Here's Anupama's Vande Mataram. Listen to it right before/after Sara's des hai mera and you'll see the difference in their levels immediately.

Dear Gauri

In 1941 VM was wrriten by Bankim C Chatterjee in Anand math, Vande Mataram was banned, as was Anandmath. Yet the worship of Mother India or Bharat Mata once instituted was here to stay. Across the Indian political spectrum, regardless of ideological differences, the idea of the sacredness of the Motherland was widely accepted.
The idea in the movie Anand Math (1952) was to relive the spirit and Lata ji was chosen for this song obviously for out put she could deliver at high register (listen to alaap in the song) , obviously when ARR recomposed it (why I dont understand) he brought the scale down, for Lata ji could not do what she did 40 years ago...!! And when contestants deliver it on stage they bring down scale even more, this doesn't go down well with old timers like Anand ji Bhai. This takes away the energy.
Otherwise clarity and rendition is worth praising here.

Coming to dharti sunhari: this simply doesn't arouse the feeling of the song and their is no attempt to sing from naad hence interpretation as faked cuteness.

Thanks for sharing the background of Vande Mataram. I have seen the movie long time back and remember the original version till date. I don't know the whole musical/notes/aalaaps history behind the Vande Matarm song. Only thing I am familiar with is that it has more than one versions and I happen to like them all.
I am not a music expert. I go based on my ear only. I don't know whether Anupama brought the scale down or not BUT I definitely did not get the feeling that she lacked energy while rendering that song. Her Vande Mataram is still lot more harder than what Sara churned out on stage that day.

Oh Gauri you got me wrong: Lata ji had a tremendous command over high sur and that is one of the reasons why she ruled a long time, even if scale is brought down a note or two it is pretty good, my comment was in general and I agree that Anupama on that day derserved to move forward. I agree that Sara has not matched her first performace as yet. She is not focussed in th way she was when she came.

Oh okay. At first I felt you were saying Anupama lacked energy. No problem at all😊
