Another idea - have an exponential ladder, where every power of 10 is a landmark.

1-9 - Newbie

10-99 Groupbie

100-999 Senior Member

1000-9999 Goldie

10000-99999 IF Dazzler

100000-999999 IF Rockerz

Other option is to - since we're marking landmarks on computers - to use powers of 2 instead of 10, and let the boundaries start @ 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 and so on. Or if that's too little, use powers of 8 or 16, such as 8, 64, 512, 4096... or 16, 256, 4096, 65536...

It'll be fun demoting most people 😈 and what's more, having them guessing as to when they'll be promoted 😈, instead of looking forward to it 😆
