Can you confirm which version of FireFox you are using?

Go to Menu of the browser:

Help > About Mozilla FireFox

and there it will tell the version number. Please let us know. And also the type of Internet you are using. (Broadband, DSL, Cable, Modem, T1 etc.)

I have the same problem and I check the version it's 3.5.7

and the internet connection is high speed broadband.
never faced the problem before, just with this new page

The internet I am not sure I think its Cable but not to sure as I am on my university network!

Mine firefox version is Firefox/3.5.7

BTW I dont consider that as a problem as the background appears for just a second and then I am able to see the webpage 😃.
