After doing a series of side roles, the actor will now play the lead in Aroona Irani's new serial

Amit Sareen aka Rahul Raichand in Risshton Ki Dor is all set to play the male lead in Aroona Irani's next serial. Earlier seen in serials likes Kkusum and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, this is the first time when the actor has been offered a main lead. And Amit just can't contain his excitement. He says, "It has been a nice learning experience so far and I think I have matured as an actor. As for myself, I don't really believe in doing only lead roles. I am game for any good character in a good serial."
So, didn't Amit feel bad playing a second fiddle in women-oriented serials? Amit says, "I do feel bad at times, but there is no option. Since television viewers are mostly women, the producers too have to cater to their tastes. And I have no qualms about it. The new show which I will be doing with Aroonaji is a balanced one in that respect. It could be a positive step towards a change in the television viewership."
Highlighting more about the new serial, Amit says, "My character will remind one of Rajesh Khanna in Andaaz. The story is about a boy who helps a girl realise the value of her existence. It is far from being a saas-bahu serial. And although the girl plays the lead protagonist, my character too is instrumental in taking the story forward."
